Pressing his body to mine and squeezing my hips, he pressed his lips to my ear. “We’re also adults, I own a vehicle, I have a phone.”
“Wait,” I said I as put my hands on his chest, gently pressing, “you’d visit me?”
He smiled and looked down, tipping my chin up with one hand. “Well yeah, I said I liked you and I wanted to kiss you. What did you think I was trying to do?”
I searched his face for something. A sign he was giving me a line. “Do you do this with all the writers that come up here?”
He chuckled. “Cause a landslide and downed trees? I never see the tenants. I came here expecting to tell a man to evacuate, and instead I found you.”
He was serious. “How much do you like this shirt?”
He cocked his head but shrugged. “It’s okay, I guess. I own about ten just like it.”
“Good.” I threaded my fingers into the spaces between the buttons and pulled hard and fast. The fabric tore as buttons flew, and one popped me in the eye.
“Eek!” I squealed then instinctively grabbed at my eye.
Johnny grabbed my face and inspected me. “Shit, CJ, are you alright? Let me see your eye.” His brow furrowed as he searched me over.
I moved my hand and blinked a few times. “Totally worth a button to the eye. I’ve always wanted to do that.” Then I pulled his face back to mine and thrust my tongue into his mouth as my hands felt his warm skin through the now open shirt.
