Chapter5

Bailey slappedat her phone when the alarm went off and lay in bed, staring at the ceiling for a few minutes. Should she go work out? She could easily start her day without it. But she would feel so much better if she got out of bed and did it anyway.

The internal argument lasted for another few minutes before she decided to go ahead and get up.

After dressing and making her way downstairs in shorts and a tank top, she was surprised to see she wasn’t the only one in the gym this morning. A man in a sweat-drenched gray t-shirt had his back to her while he did pull-ups. The way his muscles bunched with each repetition had Bailey’s mouth watering.

Damn, she needed to get laid. And since she wasn’t a one-night stander, that meant she needed a relationship. Had Brett really been that bad?

The man hopped off the bar and turned to face her.

“Oh, hey, Bailey. I didn’t expect to see you down here this morning.”

It took her a minute to snap out of the lack-of-sex trance she was in and realize Simon was the sexy man in the gray t-shirt.

“Hey, Simon.” Her voice was weak, and had she not been embarrassed at the fact she’d just salivated over her new roommate, she might have internally rolled her eyes. She cleared her throat. “I didn’t know you were going to work out in the mornings.”

He smiled and took a drink out of the bottle of water in his hand. “Truthfully, I didn’t either. I thought that once I was home, I’d sleep in and let myself go a little. Apparently, my mind has other plans because I was up at four.”

“Well, if you ever want a workout partner, wait till five.” She laughed.

He rubbed a hand over the back of his neck. “Well, I’m only just getting started, so if you’re up for a partner, I’ll be here.”

His words had an effect on her she hadn’t been prepared for. What the hell was he doing to her?

“Actually, I think I may skip this morning.” Bailey turned and headed for the door.

“Wait, why?”

She turned to see Simon standing behind her. The proximity of his body to hers gave her the urge to find the nearest chastity belt and put it on. What the hell kind of pheromones was this guy putting off?

Dammit if she didn’t want to jump him right now.

No complications, Bailey.

“I just realized that I need to make a phone call.”

“It can’t wait?” He stepped closer. Did he know? Was his sex radar going off?

She put her hand up and touched his chest. Shit. “You want honesty?”

“Yes.”

“If I don’t leave right now, I’m going to mount you here in the gym, and while I’m sure it would be a damn good time, It’s a complication we both should avoid.” She turned and left without looking back at him.

On her way back to the apartment, Bailey pulled out her phone.

“Hello?”

“You are a bitch.”

Brooklyn laughed. “Why am I a bitch this morning?”

“Simon.”

“Why does he make me a bitch?”

“You know why.”
