“Nope, you’re going to have to fill me in.”

“I just told him I wanted to mount him.”

Brooklyn started laughing, and it took her a few minutes to gain her composure. “You said you wanted to mount him?”

“Yes. He was in the gym, sweaty and sexy, and throwing off all kinds of freaking pheromones, and I haven’t had sex in a while.”

“Oh, Bales.” Brooklyn started to laugh again. “What am I going to do with you?”

“I don’t know, but I’m trying really hard to not bang my new roommate. And that’s a new struggle for me.”

“Good to know I was never on your bang list.”

“Ha. You aren’t my type,” Bailey said with a laugh.

“So, what are you going to do?”

“I have no damn clue.”

“Simon is a really nice guy.”

“He’s my roommate.”

“He’s really cute.”

“He pays part of the bills.”

“He’s got a job. Or will have one soon.”

“Simon equals complication, and I want to avoid any and all complications in my life.”

“Sometimes a little complication is just what a girl needs. Especially if he has abs and good hair.”

“You done now?”

“You done trying to avoid relationships?”

Bailey knew there was no sense in arguing. She had been trying to avoid relationships. She loved to date, loved sex when the time was right, but as far as a dedicated boyfriend, she hadn't had much luck. Her job was demanding, and as far as she could tell, the Pierces had little to no luck either.

Her mother had bailed when she’d been little, leaving her father to raise her alone, and every relationship her father had been in when she’d been growing up had ended one way or another.

It had left a bad taste in her mouth.

“Yeah. He’s probably not interested in me anyway. For all I know, he's going to move out now that I’ve made him uncomfortable.”

Brooklyn snorted. “Doubtful.”

Bailey walked into her apartment and lay down on her bed, the phone still to her ear. “Quick change of subject, what the fuck is Kep’s problem.”

“Don’t even get me started on that douche-nugget.”

“Douche-nugget?”

“I’m trying it out. Ada can do so much better.”

“But how do we get her to see that. She’s been off and on with him since last year.”

“I have no clue. Find her a hunk who’s better in bed?”
