“Hell yes!” She thrust a fist into the air and did a little dance. It was about time she started out on her own.
After climbing into her car, Bailey pulled out her phone. “Dad?”
“Hey, Bales, how’s it going?”
“I quit my job.”
“You did what?”
“I quit, and I couldn’t be happier.” She couldn’t keep the smile off her face.
“Well, I’m glad you’re happy, but what are you going to do now?”
“Actually, that’s what I wanted to talk to you about. Can I come home tonight? I can bring a pizza, and we can talk?”
“Baby, you know you are always more than welcome.”
“Yay! I will see you tonight! Love you!”
“Love you too, honey,” Geoff Pierce said with a laugh. “See you later.”
Bailey ended the call and headed toward her apartment. She had a lot to do before tonight.

Simon watchedTucker get killed for the third time this round and laughed.
“Dude, it’s a good thing you aren’t a cop or anything.”
“Shut it, this is a video game. Everyone knows it’s not real life.”
Simon laughed. “Your kill ratio is going to suck.”
Tucker shrugged, “I’ll get it back.”
“Sure.” Simon kept scrolling through the real estate page he was browsing, looking for anything worth checking out. When he’d made the decision to buy and flip a house, he hadn’t realized he was going to be so damn picky. It should be an easy decision, but for some reason, it was taking him a lot longer than he’d originally thought.
“Anything?” Tucker asked as the round ended. He set the controller down and took a drink from his coke.
“Nah, man, I think I need to just spend a day looking at them in person. They’re either too far gone or out of my price range.”
“You’ll find one. Want another?” he asked, gesturing to the empty can.
“Nah, I’m good. I need to head home.”
“We still on for poker tonight?”
“Yeah, I’ll meet you guys at Adam’s.”
“How are things with Bailey?”
The question caught him off guard, and Simon shut the computer to stare up at his friend. “What do you mean?”
“Oh please, dude. I’ve known you since we were kids. You like her.”
“Of course I like her, we live together.” He slipped the laptop into his backpack and slung it over his shoulder.
Tucker shook his head. “Fine, don’t tell me then.”
