Chapter10

“Well,”Bailey said breathlessly, “I feel like that deserves the highest of fives.”

Simon laughed. “And fist bumps.”

She rolled over onto her side and pressed a kiss to his chest just above his heart. “I suppose I should apologize for being so stubborn. Had I known the chemistry we would have in the sack, I would have jumped you months ago.”

He laughed again and pulled her against his chest. “Is now the time to ask you if you’re interested in dating me?”

“I think if anytime was the ‘right’ time for that, it would absolutely be now.”

“Good to know.”

She leaned up. “You asking?”

“I am.”

Bailey pressed her lips to his and smiled. “Simon, I think this is going to be the start of a beautiful partnership.”

Simon pulled her hard against him. If she thought this was going to end with just sex, she was wrong. He’d finally made it past the friend zone, and he had no intention of ever letting her go.

“So?”Brooklyn asked Bailey later that night as they sat around their table at Livewire, waiting for Ada to go on stage.

“So, what?”

“Don’t do that to us,” Pam insisted. “You have that sexed glow.”

“Who is he?” Lillian wondered. “Come on before the guys get back!”

Bailey glanced back at the bar where Simon, Adam, and Tucker were grabbing drinks.

She tried like hell to wipe the smile off her face when Simon turned to wink at her, but she failed.

“You did it!” Brooklyn exclaimed. “You finally bagged Simon!”

“What? Seriously? Please tell me she’s right!” Pam exclaimed.

Bailey sighed and nodded. No sense in hiding it from her best friends.

“About damn time! How was it?” Lillian wondered.

“It was amazing.” Bailey blushed. “Better than I’ve ever experienced.”

“Because you two have a connection,” Brooklyn said matter-of-factly.

Bailey scrunched her nose. “Don’t say that. It was just sex.”

“Don’t be an idiot,” Pam insisted. “You and Simon have been checking each other out in secret since the day you met. He’s a great guy, Bailey. It’s okay to have a connection.”

Bailey looked back at him again. She’d never been able to hide her insecurities from her friends, but what if they were wrong? What if the connection was only on her end?

“Get out of your head.” Brooklyn smacked her arm lightly. “It’s all doomsday in there.”

“It is not,” Bailey lied.

“Bales, let yourself be happy for once.”
