We each ordered a beer and once they arrived, Caleb, who flirted with fuckin’ everyone, watched the waitress’ ass as she walked away. “She’s fuckin’ hot as hell,” he said, more to himself than to her.
Alex chuckled. That guy got around as much as the rest of us. He just kept quiet about it.
He scratched his chin under his beard as he took his first drink. “How’d that run down to Tennessee go?”
“Fine.” I took another swallow. “No trouble at all. I think it was overkill to send so many of us. You’re just lucky you didn’t have to go.”
“Not lucky.” He shook his head. “Someone needed to keep working.”
That run hadn’t been anything big. Kraken had just wanted our guys to be safe and when we were on a road trip, that was the most dangerous time.
Caleb and Alex gave me a nod as they both tipped their bottles back against their mouths, but we were interrupted by a hot little blonde who’d just slid up to our table.
“Alex Black, right?” she asked as if she were trying to place him. I didn’t know who this woman was, and I was pretty sure I’d never seen her before.
We lived near Detroit and saw a lot of people, but our clubhouse wasn’t in the city. It was about twenty minutes outside, in a less-populated area. Most of us lived around there too. We worked out there too. Yes, Splintered Souls mostly lived in the suburbs, which was fuckin’ ridiculous.
“Yep,” he answered, but he didn’t give her anything else.
“I think you know my friend, Sienna Binger…”
“OK.”
Now, Alex wasn’t stupid. He knew where this interaction was headed. For some reason, he just wasn’t interested in it.
“So you and she—”
“Listen.” He leaned forward so that he could talk at a lower volume so he wouldn’t embarrass her. I’d grown up with these guys. I knew how they worked. “I do know Sienna. I’m not interested tonight.”
Her mouth fell open. “She said—”
“I’m sure she said lots of things.” He sat back. “Honestly, I think Miles here is exactly what you’re looking for.”
Caleb chuckled.
There were women out there who wanted the experience of hooking up with a guy in a motorcycle club. We all had women like that, but Alex had seemed to outgrow it a long fuckin’ time before the rest of us who’d patched in around the same time.
He would’ve offered Caleb up, but he had a woman he was seeing regularly. He’d made it clear he didn’t want to fuck that up.
Those death lasers she’d been throwing at Alex softened as she turned to me with a big grin on her face. She stepped up and leaned in so her tits were just about to fall out of her tank top.
“Buy me a drink?” she purred.
I grinned and waved her in.
If I rejected her out of hand, Caleb and Alex would want to know why. Not to mention, I didn’t know that I was going to reject her.
We’d see how the night went.
