JEN
Seeingmy dad yesterday went exactly as I expected. He was livid, but not for the reasons I suspected. He was mad because I "robbed your mother of the joy of planning her only daughter's wedding." In truth, my mom said it’s probably because he didn’t get to walk me down the aisle.
I tried to tell him we planned to have a normal ceremony, but he wasn't having any of it. I ended up leaving feeling guilty and sad, so I forgot all about the phone and went home to my stash.
It’s a new day and here I am, standing in the Apple Store, getting a new iPhone. I should've known even with an appointment I'd be waiting.
Tia gasps beside me and I look over.
"What's wrong?"
She winces as she looks at me.
"I don't know if I should tell you," she says.
I huff. "Well, now you have to. Just blurt it out," I coax.
She sighs. "Are you sure?"
"Yep. Just like ripping a Band-Aid off."
She hands me her phone and what I see sets me on fire—and not in a good way. There he is, my husband, arm wrapped around some chick, smiling and laughing in a club.
Zane Masters Hasn't Changed
It's been less than a week since he tied the knot to Jennifer Smith, his long-time friend, and he's cozied up to his usual type in his usual atmosphere. I have to say, I expected it to last longer than this and really expected Zane to treat his wife much better than this.
I swear I'm breathing fire.
I wonder how Mrs. Masters feels knowing that even a wedding ring can't change this leopard's spots.
How do I feel?
"I'll kill him. How dare he!"
Tia nods. "What's he thinking?"
I scoff. "He's not doing the thinking, his dick is."
Anger gives way to sadness. Humiliation comes next.
"Everyone's going to see this," I whisper, handing Tia back her phone. I can't look at that any longer.
"I can't believe he'd do this," Tia says.
Humiliation brings me back to anger and rage.
The Apple dude calls my name. He hurries with the phone. I think he’s afraid of me. My husband is the one who should be scared.
I get my phone, download everything from the cloud, and we leave the store.
One step into the sunshine, and I'm sending my asshole of a husband a text.
You are in so much trouble.
Tia lifts a brow. "What are you gonna do?"
"I'm going cut his balls off and shove 'em down his throat."
