Page 494 of One More Kiss

“That place is still open?”

“And still as grungy as it was when we had our first date.”

As much as I would love to hang around to drive down memory lane with him, we shouldn’t have ended up kissing on the porch swing. I rise up and off the swing and Julian meets me.

“You don’t have to leave,” he says.

“We both know what would happen if I stayed.”

“And that would be a bad thing because?”

I shake my head. “I love you, Julian. Always have, always will. But we’ve gone in different directions.”

“So? That’s why roads were created,” he hums while moving closer towards me. I crane my neck to stare up into his wistful eyes as he wraps his hands around my waist. “It doesn’t matter how many different directions we take; we can travel back in the same direction on the same road as many times as we want until we come on home to the ones we can never stop thinking about, or the ones we want back. And I want you back, Olivia.”

I part my lips as the words on my heart want to sing out to him but his phone interrupts us again. “I’m sure it’s Jordan calling to make sure you didn’t forget him. That or he’s being sexually harassed by the buckle bunnies that have strolled into town,” I laugh.

Julian presses his lips to my forehead and I sigh. “I’ll bring Jordan around tomorrow to help with the remodel at the library. He owes me now for being a cock-block.”

“Maybe it was a sign from a higher power.”

He rolls his eyes. “No higher power is going to stop me from getting you naked and underneath me.”

“Who said I’m going to be underneath you?” I arch a brow at him. “You know I prefer to be on top!”

Julian groans and the mental image of me riding him has me squirming. I leave him on that note with the promise of seeing him again tomorrow.
