What the fuck I should do?

I called my handler and told him about the conversation. He was the one that would ultimately make the decision on whether I attended the Famiglia meeting or not.

I glancedat the Bilotti mansion before I climbed out of my jeep. Marco greeted at the bottom of the stairs. He was loyal to Vincenzo—or so I was told—but I didn’t trust anyone. I planned to be wary of everyone until I cleared them from being the mole.

Marco showed me around the house, his tone hard. He clenched his fists when I asked any questions. At the end of the tour, we entered Vincenzo’s office. None of the other men were around; it was only Vin, Marco, and me.

“You’re going to make this harder than it needs to be,” I snapped at Marco. “Your body language is screaming that I’m a cop. Control yourself before you blow it for everyone.”

He glared at me over the top of his freshly poured glass of whisky.

“I don’t trust pigs.” A look of pure hatred showed across his face. “Furthermore, I don’t agree with you being here, but I have no choice. The boss believes you’re the man for the job.”

I chuckled. “Fucking hell. If you were doing your job maybe I wouldn’t have been called in. Maybe you’re the mole”

“Enough.” Vincenzo sighed, behind his desk. “Marco, the kid is baiting you. Don’t listen to him. We both know that if you’re sniffing around, you’ll not find anything. The men know you’re loyal. They won’t divulge anything in your presence.”

Vin turned his gaze to me. “Don’t antagonize my men, Manocchio. You do, and you’ll be dead before you can blink.”

The leather chair squeaked as I sat down across from Vin. For years, I’d wanted nothing more than to get into Vincenzo’s office.

I would need to be patient, but I would take him down in the end.

“I’ll be dead if this asshole doesn’t change.” I nodded towards Marco. “He will give away I’m a cop without uttering a single word.”

Vincenzo waved his hand at my concerns. “Don’t worry. He knows what to do. Now, you’re to meet my daughter tonight after the meeting.”

I was pretty sure there was a threat in there somewhere.

“Let’s go,” Marco said as he strode toward the door. “It’s time to meet the other men.”

Vincenzo rose from the chair. He and Marco led me through the halls of the house. We rounded a corner, and Avery stepped into our path.

My gaze collided with her blue eyes. The woman was gorgeous, with thick brown hair, pouty lips, and curves to die for. She gave me a bright smile and carried on down the hall.

“Don’t even think about it,” Marco hissed under his breath. “She’s off limits. No one is to touch her, especially not you. She is la principessa.”

She was the princess, and she was even more beautiful than her pictures showed. Despite my years of undercover work, no woman had ever swayed me to the dark side. Many of the woman I’d crossed were corrupt, but Avery’s only flaw was she was born into the wrong family.

A family I planned to take down and she would hate me in the long run.

“Stay the fuck away,” Marco said.

I swallowed hard. Yeah, that would to be a lot harder than it should be. I swore she saw into my soul with that one look, and we hadn’t even spoken.

Damn it, even my cock had jumped at the single glance. Avery was going to be a problem.

A beautiful problem.
