He unbuckled his seatbelt, too. “Not a problem. Let me get your door.”

Hot and chivalrous? Seriously? Vee is never going to believe this.

We stood there for a moment. His hands were shoved deep into his pockets as he rocked on his heels nervously. “So, how long do you think your friend’s car will be out of order?”

“I’m not sure.” I sighed. “She said they think it's the radiator, but I feel like that’s only the tip of the iceberg.”

He let out a loud breath. “Shitty.”

“Yeah, I know, it sucks for sure.”

“Not for us.”

I looked at him in surprise.

“I can give you more rides if you want. To therapy, I mean.”

My cheeks flushed, and I nodded. “Okay. If it’s not too much trouble.”

“You are literally the only person in that circle who doesn’t make me want to gouge my eyes out with a rusty spoon.”

My brow furrowed. “Umm…I’m going to just take that as the compliment I think you meant it as.”

“It wasn’t a compliment; it was just the truth.”

“Okay.” I nodded and started toward the stairs.

“Hey, Tate.”

I stopped halfway up the steps. “Yeah?”

“I like your smile.”

I glanced back at him.

He just grinned. “That was a compliment.”

“Okay, slow down.”Victoria held up her hand.

We were sitting on my bed, and I’d just told her about everything that had happened today.

“So, he offers you a ride—in his Mercedes—and then proceeds to take you to eat….”

I nodded, covering my face. But I couldn’t hide my smile.

“So, Daniel Soronen took you on a date?” She said it more like a statement with a raised brow, so maybe it was a question.

I looked at her. “I mean, I don’t know if it was a date,” I trailed off, and Victoria lost her mind.

“You do know what a date is, right? Or has it been too long since you’ve crawled out of the bat cave?”

“Stop.” I giggled, shoving my pillow at her.

She bit her lips. “So, when are you seeing him again?”

“Well, since your car is a piece of shit, he said he’d give me a ride next week.”
