Ryker nods, walking away from the dungeon. “Your powers are stripped away until you can calm yourself down.”

Ozias sighs, looking at me with sad eyes before he starts after Ryker. Khazon shakes his head, following.

Inarian stares through the bars with a smile on his lips before he raises his phone and snaps a picture of me. “This… This is amazing. You just had to pick a king as your boyfriend and then hurt him in his own kingdom.”

Ledger lets out a growl, glaring at him.

Jigsaw moves away, leaving me with Inarian, Hazen, and Ledger.

I move to the bars. “When can I come out?”

“Ryker has to talk to his father, the active king. He wants you in here for a long time,” Hazen explains, rubbing the back of his neck and looking down at the concrete floor. “They… don’t like the Devil here.”

I give a shrug. “Who really does?”

Hazen lets out a sigh. “Why are you so angry, Asura? They have been nice and given you the benefit of the doubt. They healed you and put you in a nice room.”

Shaking my head, I sit back on the bed. Itwasnice of the fae to do that. My body feels ten times better than it did in Hell.“You don’t understand.”

“The orphans don’t understand?” Inarian teases, earning a glare.

“We all experienced grief, and we all deal with it differently,” Hazen argues.

I can’t help but roll my eyes. “Have you ever been told by your dead father that he knew he would die and did nothing to change it? Or the demon that kept you alive is now gone, making you fully human when your demon side has never been out before? No?”

“That was a selfish statement. You have no idea what I’ve been through.” Hazen shakes his head.

Rage rushes through me, and I snap, “I don’t care!”

Hazen looks down, jaw tightening. His fist tightens and then loosens. “Okay, Asura.”

“Haze!” My voice cracks. Why did I say that? I care. He must know I do.But he’s gone before I can even explain myself.

Ledger lets out a sigh before he moves to follow Hazen. “I’m sure he’ll be okay. I’ll watch after him.”

Silence fills the air while it’s just Inarian and me. He stares at me with his icy eyes.

A growl catches in my throat. “Why the fuck are you staring at me?”

Inarian cocks a brow at me. “Who do you think you are talking to? Watch it before I kick your ass.”

I scoff. “I would like to see you try.”

He chuckles, shaking his head. “It doesn’t feel good to be lied to, does it? You got a taste of your own medicine, and everything is coming down.”

I want to lash out, tell him all this stuff to hurt his feelings, but everything does feel like it’s coming down. My whole world is falling apart. Not even a month ago, I was on Earth, surviving the reapers that were hastily sent for me.

Now, I’m in jail in a world I don’t know… in one of my boyfriend’s kingdom’s jails. My family is gone. The anger finally turns into sadness, and tears begin rushing down my face. Inarian stands there, letting me sob until I can’t breathe. “W-What do I do?” I cry, voice cracking.

“You control thisfuckinganger. You get back up, train like you need to, and get back to work.”

I wipe away the tears with the back of my hands and look at him. “D-Did you? You fight with Ledger every chance you get. Is that called you controlling the anger?”

He shakes his head, dark hair falling against his pale forehead. “I call that a guy who can’t forgive what he’s done. Why do you think Ledger wins so many fights? I let him beat the shit out of me. Are you going to keep doing that to yourself? Beat yourself up for something you had no control over?”

I roll my eyes. “You have no idea what I’m going through.”

His eyes narrow, and anger flares in them. “Hazen watched his parents get slaughtered. Jigsaw lost his in a car accident. Mine was murdered during a mugging. Ledgers’ disowned him because of his brother’s death. You don’t think we understand? We have lost people too, Asura. And Hazen? He has not stopped crying over Fen, and for you to—”
