Page 37 of Hell's Storm

Hazen wakes me up just as the sun is rising. I look up at him, waiting for him to speak, but his bright blue eyes just wonder my face. “Morning, beautiful,” he finally whispers.

After a stretch, I smile up at him. “Good morning, handsome.”

“Do you want to see where I’ve been running off to so much lately?”

Nerves enter my stomach. “No… Is it a girl?”

He frowns. “No. You really think I’d cheat on you?”

I shrug. “I have a harem. It’s fair.”

He chuckles. “I agree to share you. I agree with you about getting as many men as it takes for you to feel whole. I would never even look at a girl without talking to you about it.”

My fingers run against his sharp jaw. “Good boy.”

His Adam’s apple bobs. “Don’t make me late, Asura. Later, I am all yours.”

My core clenches at that. He’s all mine. Submissively.

“Let’s go. We don’t have much time.” He stands, throwing on a shirt. I get dressed quickly, fixing my hair into a high ponytail. Glancing in the mirror, I barely recognize myself. My silver hair is longer, and when up, I can see the red swirling around my body, all the way up to my neck. Sometimes without Circe and the Flame, my body doesn’t feel like mine anymore. My skin is finally looking that chestnut, even color I like. It’s a bit lighter than chestnut, maybe a golden tan. “Are you okay?”

I look up. “Yes. Yes, I am.”

He holds out his hand, and I take it. He leads me down the stairs and out of the castle. The only ones up right now are the guards. Together we walk across the bridge, enjoying how the sun replaces the moon. At the end of the tower, a fairy guard transports us to the bottom.

Walking around, I follow him to a village that is already awake and… waiting for him.Fae kids rush to him, all talking at once to him.Hazen reaches down, picking one up and quickly putting him on his shoulders. The kid squeals with delight.

“Is this your girlfriend?” a girl screeches, catching our attention. The kids look at me in silence. “She’s pretty!”

Hazen smiles. “Isn’t she? She’s my girlfriend. I’m showing her what we do when we hang out.”

One of the girls takes my hand and begins leading me towards the center. The closer we get to it, the more I see people cooking outside and handing out food.

Hazen sets the kid down and starts to work on helping hand out food to kids. I jump in, helping plate and hand off the food. We work in silence until every single one of the families is fed and satisfied. Hazen has been sweet to everyone he meets, making me watch him closely. I love that he is this kind to people. I’ve never seen him mad or even pissed, even at me.

“Every day, King Christopher has made sure that families in his village have food,” Hazen explains as he walks me through the village while the people are eating.

“And you come down and help?”

He nods. “Makes me feel better. But sometimes…” He stops to look up to the sky. “It makes me miss your family. They were the only real family I had.”

I grab his waist and wrap my arms around him. “Well, you have us. You aren’t alone.”

He touches my head, sighing. “Yeah… I’m not alone.”

After food, he spends time with the village kids, playing all the games they ask him to, even if he doesn’t know them. I sit by and watch them with a smile on my face.

“So, you are the Queen of Hell, huh?” a female voice comes, making me look up. A woman stands beside me, looking down at me.

“Sadly.”

She cocks a brow. “You don’t seem like the Queen of Hell. You seem weak.”

I snort. She’s not wrong. I feel ten times weaker than my father. My father would enter a room, and it would shift with his magic.

“Hazen tells me you’re so much different than what is expected of the rulers of Hell,” she says, sitting beside me.

I look back at Hazen. So, he talks about me? Did he tell her we were a thing?
