“We would need to get it officially registered by the country,” Henry murmured.
“Can we really do this?” I asked, looking around at all of them. “That would be freakin’ amazing.”
“We can do whatever you want,” Atlas promised.
Suddenly I was feeling excited about the prospect of this really happening. I stood up and intertwined my fingers, walking towards Henry and Marco, who were in conversation about my idea. Immediately I was pulled into Marco’s side as he brushed his lips against my head.
“Maya, never doubt that we can make anything you want happen,” Marco murmured against my ear.
“I know,” I whispered. “All of this feels just a bit overwhelming.”
“We are with you every step of the way,” he said seriously.
“What…what will happen to the Dragon Council?” I asked, frowning.
“I think Lucas will agree with me, and most likely Larry after what Anna did, that the Council no longer serves its purpose,” Marco stated. “The dragons and phoenixes here don’t need a Council—they need a Queen.”
“Whether they realize it yet or not,” Henry agreed.
Suddenly, the main door opened, and my mom stood there in a dark dress, her eyes immediately finding mine. She smiled and thrust out a letter. “They sent correspondence just now.”
I felt a thrill run through me as I opened the letter, my mates surrounding me as I read the short yet beautifully scrawled letter, my heart starting to beat faster. My spirit surged with pride as I looked up at my mom.
“They want to leave the mountain,” I said, looking back down at the letter to make sure it was real. “They want me as their leader.”
