That surprises me, not that he noticed how I wanted to keep to myself but that he’d feel intimidated by me.Also, even if it was true that he had been a bit of a hot mess … I didn’t like him calling himself a fuck up.
“I never thought you even knew that I existed. You were always …”
“Wasted?” He supplies.
“Yeah, that. And also always had at least two girls on your arm.”
River’s lips come closer to mine, almost touching but not quite. “A distraction at best. But I did notice you all the time. I just didn’t think you’d be interested. In a way, I should thank Kaden for fucking up that day and taking you. We wouldn’t be here right now. I wouldn’t have you in my arms, so warm, soft, sexy.”
I accept his kiss and return it with abandon, marveling at how he doesn’t care about my period. As I said, Pierce used to find it repulsive and would barely even want to sleep in the same bed as me during those days of the month. But I don’t want to think about my ex while I’m in River’s arms.
His hands skim all over my body, soothing and hot at the same time and I let my own hands explore his. His solid, defined chest, his stomach, ripped with a perfect six pack. His hard on, encased by smooth, velvety skin. I run my hand up and down his shaft following his underside with my finger all the way to the silky skin of his tip.
His eyes are closed and his chest rises visibly, accelerating his breathing rate with my every touch. When I finally close my hand around his base and start running it up and down his hard length, he opens his eyes and smiles.
“Do you have any idea of how many times I did this thinking about you since that day at the bank?” His admission makes fire rage through me as I bite on his bottom lip, clenching my thighs together in search of relief.
“Really? Did you really want me even then?” But I never receive an answer because the bedroom door flies open and Blaine steps into the room, freezing on the spot like a deer caught in headlights.
“Oh, fuck! Sorry.”
River groans, frustrated. “No one taught you how to knock, asshole?” I have to admit it, River said it with less heat than I expected.
“Uhm, yeah. You’re right, dude. Sorry. Sorry, Sloane.”
River sighs surrounding my shoulder with his arm. “What do you want, Blaine?”
“Huh, we just came back from getting some groceries for the next few days and I just had an idea. Why don’t we take Sloane out for dinner?”
River shrugs. “Sure, but where? We’re kinda in the middle of fucking nowhere.”
Blaine explains that there’s a little restaurant a couple of miles away. “It’s really off the beaten path but the guy that runs it has three Michelin stars. Normally it would take months to get a reservation but I know him pretty well, because I taught his daughter how to surf.”
River emits a dark chuckle. “Right. Is that code for ‘you were fucking his daughter?’”
Blaine blushes, averting his gaze. Not jealous. Who is jealous? Not me.
“Okay, maybe. But it was a few years ago and he was friends with my parents. Before, you know, the whole fraud shit went down. But the point is that we could get a table. And I know he would never call the cops, even if he’d seen the police alert. And he’ll give us a private booth. The restaurant is small and very private. So going out there for dinner is no more risky than going out to buy groceries. Are you guys in?”
River nods. “Sure, if Sloane is up for it, I’m starving. What do you say, kitten, do you feel well enough to go?”
“You want to take me on a date?” I ask quietly, my ears turning pink. “Like all of you?”
“Are you blushing?” River chuckles as Blaine smiles, “Blaine she’s blushing.”
“Shut it,” I mutter and River gives me a knee weakening wink.
“Well then, there you go! And you said I was crazy when I made you buy that dress at the mall! It’s perfect for a date, didn’t I tell you?”
???
So I have to be honest, I had no idea what to expect when the guys mentioned going on a date. I mean, how does one go on a date with four men? Apparently, pretty fucking easily considering that I am currently doing it.
The restaurant we decided to go to is off the beaten path, but absolutely stunning, tucked into a thick forested area with a series of bay of windows that shows off a breathtaking view of the ocean. It is a smaller place but any seats that they do have are filled, with almost no openings. Everyone looks at us as we step into the foyer, the warm carpets and elegant wallpaper, making the warm glow of lights feel romantic. My dress is fitted against my body but a bit looser than before which worries me a tad, but doesn’t fully surprise me considering how much we have been on the run. Nutrition wasn’t exactly top of my mind and my appetite always disappears when I’m stressed. The coat around my shoulders is Blaine’s and while it’s oversized, and I’m practically swimming in it, it smells amazing.
I know we probably look odd, four men with one woman. But I find myself having a hard time being embarrassed because frankly, it’s hard to feel ashamed about the four men by my side. I mean, have you seen them? If anything, I’m worried that I don’t look like I fit in.
The hostess, who looks at Royce for a bit longer than my liking, sits us in a circular velvet booth that faces the view and provides us with some level of privacy, surrounded by some wrought iron and glass partitions all around it. Kaden helps me with my coat and as his eyes flicker over me, I can see his gaze darken into burning sapphires. I shiver slightly, trying to pass it off as being cold but the small smirk on his face lets me know that he sees right through me.
