“Ugh, don’t remind me.” His expression dropped.

“Hey.” I laid my hand on his cheek. “It’ll be okay. You’ll figure something out. He cares too much to let you quit.”

“You’re right, girlfriend.” His mouth quirked. “Ready to do this?”

I inhaled a deep breath and nodded.

“That’s my girl.” He dropped a kiss on my head and ducked out of the car, offering me his hand.

But that wasn’t good enough for Aaron. He pulled me into his side, anchoring his arm firmly around my waist. “Just so there can be no mistakes about who you belong to,” he said, flicking his gaze to where Zara and her friends stood gawking at us. “This is me making a clear statement.”

He’d asked me how I wanted to handle Zara, even gone so far as to give me a whole list of suitable means of revenge. But this, walking into school on his arm as his girlfriend, was all the revenge I would ever need.

Besides, I knew Aaron had already straightened things out with the team about what really went down at the party. And they were on our side, not hers.

“Poppy?” he nudged me gently and I lifted my eyes to his.

“I love you, Aaron the Greatest” I whispered, and he pulled me closer, pressing a kiss to my head.

“I love you too, Poppy Star.”
