My cheeks were flushed and I had a bad case of post-sex hair but it was nothing a quick brush wouldn’t fix. But Aaron climbed off the bed and stalked toward me, wrapping his arms around my waist and dropping his chin on my shoulder.
His eyes met mine in the mirror. “Love you, Poppy Star.”
“I love you too.”
“Say it…”
“Aaron, come on.”
“Please say it.” He flashed me his puppy dog eyes. “It makes me feel validated. Please.”
“Fine. I love you too, Aaron the Greatest-in-bed ever.”
“Damn right he is.”
“There is something deeply wrong with you.”
“You weren’t saying that five minutes ago. Aaron, more… Aaron, right there… don’t stop… Oh God.”
I scowled, storming toward the door.
“Shit, wait, Poppy, I was joking.” He lunged for me and pushed me up against the door. “Hi.” He grinned.
“Hi.”
“Maybe we can fool around for—”
“Poppy, Aaron, dinner,” Mom yelled and he let out a heavy sigh.
“Guess that’s our cue,” he grumbled.
“Come on, stud, time to play happy family.”
Aaron
Dinner with the parentals after I just ate my girlfriend out in her bedroom.
Fuck. My. Life.
But I couldn’t keep my hands off her.
Being with Poppy had unlocked something inside of me. She was in my thoughts every second of every day. There wasn’t room for anything else. It’s why Coach kicked my ass daily at practice. Because my concentration levels were shot and my focus was all over the place.
Poppy consumed me and I couldn’t think of a better way to drown.
But we still had a season left to finish. A season everyone wanted to win.
I still wanted it. I still wanted the team to win state, I just didn’t need it the same way I had before.
“About time.” Dad smirked. “I almost came up there to get you.”
“Ash,” Mom warned, hiding a smile of her own.
Jesus.
This was unbearable. But I’d survive it for Poppy. She looked so radiant as she went over to help her mom with the dishes.
“Something smells good, Mrs. Ford,” I said.
