My dear friend,
By the time you read this, you will probably know that I have disappeared. Perhaps not. Either way, I urge you not to worry. I am safe and I am happy. The truth is, Lady Montbrook wanted to marry me off to one of her sons. I overheard the conversation, and it wasn’t very pleasant. I felt this was her plan all along, ever since I arrived at the Somerset estate, or perhaps even when she arrived in London. Forgive me for not writing to you sooner, but I did not want you fretting over me.
I shan’t bore you with details, I shall tell you all when I see you. For now, I need you to know two things:
I am away from the Montbrooks and I am safe.
When we do see each other again, I shall be a married lady. I’ve eloped.
Much Love,
Evie.
