This comes from a sneering vampire with long brunette hair. He flicks it over his shoulder. “I can think of plenty of uses for a mouth like that.”

Colt flits to the annoying vampire before Grayson can and slams his fist into his face. The vamp flies back and crashes into a parked car, promptly setting off the alarm.

“Someone shut the damn car off,” Grayson says.

A female digs around in her pocket and clicks the key-fob.

Colt glares at the small crew of vampires. “We’re not here to make threats of sexual assault. We’re here to deal with the Santa Cruz Pack. Just because she’s going to die doesn’t give you the right to be a disgusting asshole.”

The one that he tossed across the parking garage stands. If I weren’t about to die, I’d be worried about the scowl he sends my way. I crack a grin, letting my teeth flash at him. My hair’s falling in my face, but he can see enough of me to register the smile. He growls and walks off toward an SUV, hopping into the backseat and slamming the door.

“Let’s go!” Colt yells, startling the vampires into action.

I watch from my bent position as they load into two cars. Grayson and Colt are the only ones who get into the SUV I’m in. Colt turns around in the passenger seat while Grayson navigates out of the garage.

“What are you looking at, blood sucker?”

He narrows his eyes. “I don’t know, I haven’t figured it out yet.”

Dick.

I blow the hair out of my face and shake my head so I can glare at him without obstruction.

“Look long and hard, Colt. This face will haunt you for the rest of your life. I’ll find you in your undead sleep. I’ll haunt you while you’re fucking some undead twat. You’ll never shit again without me present. Every second of privacy you think you have will be destroyed. I will be there to annoy the shit out of you, and there’s nothing you can do about it, supe.”

“Damn,” Grayson mutters. He flicks on the blinker as we idle at a light.

Colt continues to look at me. My words haven’t affected him, or at least, he doesn’t let their impact show. Cold hearted bastard.

“Funny, it’s like you think you’re threatening me. What makes you think I don’t want you to haunt me?”

I look at the door panel across from me, ignoring the slight twitching of his mouth.

“Will you watch me jerk off?”

Judas Priest.

“I’ll find a way to stab you. There has to be a way to level up to poltergeist. When I figure it out, you can kiss your dick bye-bye.”

He bursts out laughing, throwing his head back and letting his rumbling chuckles fill the car. “Who are you?”

I glance at him, drawing my eyebrows down. “I’m Demetria.”

“I know your name, but who are you? How’d you get to be so ballsy?” He shakes his head. “You remind me of someone.”

“Guess you’ll never find out, since I’m going to die.” Then I press my lips together and stare at him.

Colt searches my face for a few moments, sucking in his cheeks as he tries to work out who I remind him of or why I am the way I am.

“We’re two minutes away,” Grayson says, interrupting us.

Colt faces forward, and they start discussing the plan, ignoring me and my racing human heart.

Since I’m no longer distracted, all I can focus on is how my blood is rushing through my veins and roaring in my ears. My breaths are sharp and short.

My vision dims when the tires crunch over gravel and Grayson stops the car.

Doors slam closed, and Colt’s seat belt retracts when he undoes the buckle and gets out. Grayson follows after him, leaving me in the car alone.
