She glances at me then focuses on the fighting when a wolf yelps. It’s impossible to tell who is winning, especially with the amount of blood they’ve both lost.

I hold Colt’s stubborn stare, smirking when he slightly narrows his gaze on me as if to saydrop it.

Oh no, my friend. I will not drop it.

Chapter Ten

Colt

Grayson is burning a hole in my cheek with how hard he’s staring at me.

The fucker heard what Demi asked, he knows there’s only one explanation, and he’s not going to let it slide.

Fuck.

Mateo will be pissed if this gets back to him. He told me I couldn’t have her, and he meant any of her. Not her blood, not her pussy, and not her love.

She’d never love someone like me though, and I’m not looking for her to. The boss made it clear. She’s off limits.

If she survives this night, I’m not sure what it means for us or for her. Grayson’s riveted by her, I have the worst case of blue balls from this chick, and Mateo won’t let us have her.

It’s been a long time since I’ve argued with him. . . and if he insists on sticking to his ridiculous rule, he and I will have words.

If Demi lives, I’m taking her. She wants me just as badly as I want her, and no one is going to stand in the way of that. Not even Mateo.

Demi

Richard’s head snaps to the side when the wolf who challenged him shifts and punches him. I hear the crunching of bones, but the beta doesn’t stop. Richard gouges him a few more times with his paws before the beta overpowers him in his human form and pummels him. Punch after brutal punch smashes Richard’s wolf head into the ground.

The wolf is hitting him so hard the ground starts to give way under the pressure, slowly swallowing up Richard. He’s panting, growling, and calling Richard names. The alpha is a mess of blood, broken bones, and smashed skin.

I’m not sure the beta is going to relent.

Richard’s no longer moving.

One of the other wolves steps forward and mumbles something to the beta. He whips his head around and snaps at the wolf. Then he leans down and rips Richard’s throat out with his bare hands. The other wolf slinks back to the others. The group of them are staring at the slaughter and make no move to stop the beta.

Apparently, none of them like Richard.

He is an asshole, so it makes sense.

Colt and Grayson take two more steps back and drag me with them. The beta is lost in his feast. My stomach turns when I see entrails hanging from his mouth. He throws his head back and howls at the moon.

The vampires behind us shuffle closer, forming a tight group.

“What are we doing with the trash?”

Oh, how original.

“Shut up,” Colt says.

“We haven’t finished yet. Someone arm the bomb.” This is from the asshole from the parking garage.

Something jostles my back and Grayson’s hold on my arm grows more painful. “You will not touch her.”

“Got it,” someone else says a second after Grayson speaks.

“Fuck,” Colt says on a sigh. “Someone kill her.”
