Today is a day full of firsts for Grayson. He's never yelled at me before. This trip went from fun to complicated really quick.

"Okay, let me try something." I focus on her name, closing my eyes and trying to use my Hunter senses to locate her. Nothing happens. "Fuck, I don't know what I'm doing."

"We need to go." Grayson steps on the desk he toppled over and jumps to the door.

"Wait. Grab some of her things."

"Why?"

I shrug. "I don't know what we need to track her. Maybe if Zander has something of hers and her name, he can help."

"I'll grab the cup and meet you in the car."

"Okay." I can tell he's processing the situation and don’t let him being short with me get under my skin.

He’s freaking out.

Once he stomps through the house and leaves, I take a deep breath and close my eyes. I chant the witch’s name in my head, but nothing happens.

So much for super Hunter radar.

Hopefully Zander can help me figure out how to use my powers, because right now I feel like a complete failure. Especially because I can’t help Grayson when he needs it most.

Glancing around her trashed bedroom one last time, I let out a hard breath and turn to leave.

When I shut the door to the car, I stare at Lacey's cottage. She was just here.

Who would take her and why?

When we makeit back to the Blood Mafia building, Grayson goes to find Mateo and I head to find Zander and company. My intuition leads me to their apartment. I hear X's infectious laughter through the door.

Colt opens the door before I can knock. "Please tell me you've come to rescue me." He looks at the teacup in my hand. "Thirsty?"

"Lacey's missing."

He furrows his brow. "You're sure?"

I nod. "Grayson's with Mateo. I was going to see if Zander could help."

"I should probably join them. . ." Colt trails off, glancing over his shoulder.

"Don't worry about me," I say. "These are my people."

He grimaces. "Are you sure you want to claim them? They're obnoxious."

I can't help laughing at how serious he sounds. "They're fine. You're a grumpy old vampire. Go see the boss, I'll hang with them."

Colt sweeps me into his arms and presses his lips to mine in a rough kiss before he flashes away.

I close the door with a smile on my face. He's so cute when he's annoyed.

"Hey, baby cakes, what's happening?"

"Hey, X." My friends are strewn about the living room, lounging on his couches and chairs. "We have a situation."
