I don't. There's no way I'm escaping their grasp and I'm no match for them without my Hunter powers.

Going limp, I make myself as heavy as I can, but my weight doesn't faze them. They're so strong.

Pain radiates from my stomach in excruciating waves, echoing out to my sides and up my body. I hope there's no serious damage.

"I told you the bitch would learn."

Daniel is speaking to one of his conspirators.

I bite down on the gag, stopping myself from yelling at him. Daniel's going to be in worse pain than me once I get my hands on him.

I have to find a way to escape them first.

Chapter Nine

Demi

The bag is ripped off of my head and someone kicks the back of my knees. I drop to the ground, landing hard on the gravel and wince. There's a streetlamp near a building, it's the only reason I can make out my surroundings. I'm behind the gym. My eyes flick up to the person standing in front of me, his back is to the structure.

Gerry is frowning at me like I'm the one that's done something wrong.

I'm going to be honest, being kidnapped by these guys isn't nearly as fun as it was with the vampires.

"Take out the gag," Gerry orders.

Nimble fingers untie the material and I spit when it's removed, trying to erase the taste of fabric from my mouth.

Daniel and three guys I don't recognize go stand behind Gerry, crossing their arms and glaring at me. Maria isn't anywhere in sight, so that's a plus.

I don't speak. I'm sure they expect me to ask why they're doing this or beg to be let go. I won't give them the satisfaction of breaking me. As far as I'm concerned, Mateo's a hell of a lot scarier and I managed to keep my shit together when he had me tied up. For the most part.

Gerry narrows his eyes even further. "Do you know what I hate, Demi?"

I shrug, still not speaking.

His shoes crunch on the gravel as he steps forward and drops to a squat. He tips my chin so I'm staring directly into his eyes.

"Liars."

This sounds like a personal problem.

Then I remember I lied to him. There's no way he knows the truth though, right?

His fingers dig into my flesh. "Why did you lie about sharing blood with the vampires?"

"I didn't," I say, sticking with my story.

He tsks. "Lie."

"I wouldn't let a fang banger near me if my life depended on it."

"Do you see this ring?" He holds up his hand so I can see an emerald set in silver. "This ring lets me know when someone is lying to me. Turns out witches come in handy for this sort of thing."

My stomach drops.

Removing his bruising grip from my chin, he places his hands on his knees and stands. "Do you know what the punishment is for letting a vampire feed from you?"

I shake my head. "But I'm sure you're about to tell me."
