Anthia lands in a crouch amidst the screams of the patrons. She growls at me as the ones closest to the private room flee.

I hold my hand up. "I don't want to hurt you, but I will if you don't stop." I point to Sisco, deciding I'm taking my filter off. "This douchebag shouldn't be allowed to lay a hand on you. You know that. If I were you, I'd kill him."

She narrows her eyes, flicking her red hair over her shoulder. "I love him."

"That doesn't mean he gets to treat you like shit," I say, shaking my head. "Whatever, this is your business. Mateo, what now?"

Mateo is watching me, eyes hooded as I stand over the temporarily dead Sisco. Apparently me killing his enemy does it for him. If I weren't half-insane and enjoying myself immensely, I'd be freaked out.

As it is, I wink at him. "Save it for the ride home, big guy."

I'm teasing him, because I plan to lay into him as soon as we get back in the SUV.

His eyes darken from brown to black. "We wait for him to wake."

Ugh. Fine, we can wait, but I expect to be taken for real food once we're done here.

Sisco wakes up about nine minutes later. Anthia's been pacing behind him, shooting paranoid looks at Mateo like she doesn't trust him not to truly kill her man. She's worried about the wrong supe in this room.

Merely thinking about him hurting Alissa is enough to make me want to grab the serrated dinner knife and chop his dick off.

He uses his hands to adjust his head and stretches it from side to side. "Well, that was a fun surprise. I thought your kind was dead." Sisco smirks at Mateo. "Does Nix know you've claimed a Hunter?"

Mateo doesn't respond.

Sisco sighs. "Fine. You can have Alissa. Not because of the Hunter, but because I'm bored with this back and forth. Stay out of New York and I'll stay out of California."

Mateo flashes his teeth at Sisco. "I'll do whatever I damn well please, Sisco. You're mistaken if you think I'd agree to those terms. If you leave now, I'll make sure Demetria doesn't kill you." Mateo's black gaze focuses on me. "She's two seconds away from doing irreparable damage and she's already stressed out poor Anthia."

Sisco's pale eyes are creepy, especially when they darken to black. He doesn't like being threatened.

I stand up and lean my hands on the table. "Sisco, is it? Let me tell you a little secret." I lower my voice. "I will chop your prick off and put it through the meat grinder in the kitchen of this restaurant if you don't leave in the next thirty seconds."

Weird flex, but okay.

This is the first test I've done to see how vampires respond to a Hunter they've angered. Truly angered.

Sisco's eye twitches.

"One, two, three," I whisper, using my fingers to count.

He hisses before flashing from the room, leaving his women behind. Anthia sighs heavily before leaving. The other two get up, slower to leave and not seeming to care about my threat.

They casually walk out of the restaurant, no flashing for them. I guess since I didn't threaten them they're not worried. I admire their bravery, because Sisco ran like a little bitch.

Mateo's menacing laughter fills the room. "Damn, baby girl."

The general manager is pacing outside the room, obviously too afraid to come in and tell us off, but clearly wanting to do something about the mess we've made.

I place my hands on my hips. "Leave them a tip and take me to get a burger. I'm starving."

He flashes to me and drops a quick kiss on my lips. It's so unexpected I don't stop him. He's gone just as fast, leaving a stack of hundred-dollar bills on the table. I sigh and shake my head.

Fucking vampire.
