"This vampire was about to attack Demi." Zander presses the blade into Trey's neck. "I was teaching him a little lesson."
Colt looks at me, face impassive. "Is that true?"
"I was going to handle it, Zander was only trying to help." Please don't kill him, I add in my head. I don't want to be the reason another of my kind is dead. I appreciate Zander's protective instincts, but I don't need him to help me.
"Release him."
Zander scowls at Colt. He removes the dagger and shoves Trey away from his body.
Trey growls. The sound is cut short when Colt flashes to him and grasps his neck.
"This is your last chance, Trey. She's here to stay and is in the inner circle, you will not touch her. Do not look at her, do not think about her. If you so much as breathe in her direction I will rip your spine out and shove it up your ass."
X slaps her hand over her mouth to stifle a burst of laughter. Tyra scoffs at her and rolls her eyes at me, sayingthis bitchwith the look. I smirk at her and shake my head at X's inability to control herself.
"She's a blood whore, she doesn't belong in the inner circle."
"She is not a blood whore, dickface," I say.
Colt lets out a hard breath. "I warned you." Then he flashes out of the gym, still clutching Trey by the throat.
Tyra whistles. "What're the chances Trey lives?"
Zander tips his head to the side and puts his dagger back in its sheath attached to his belt. "None."
X makes a funny face. "I keep picturing Colt jamming his spine into his ass."
I grimace. "That's disgusting. He probably already killed him." At least, I hope so. I don't know that Trey deserves to die for being a complete and total asshole, but I'm not in charge of the vampires.
Colt is Mateo's number one. He deals with the members of Blood Mafia when they get out of line.
Moving my thoughts from Trey and his certain death, I glance over at my friends. "Are you guys okay? Did you sleep well?"
X nods her head. "I slept great."
"Yeah, but you snored like an elephant," Zander mumbles.
Tyra snorts. "We're good. Colt's pretty intimidating."
I shrug. "He's not the friendliest porcupine."
"Porcupine, I see the resemblance."
Zander shushes X. "If he's in the building, he can hear everything we're saying."
X tosses her long, blonde ponytail over her shoulder. "Whatever." Then she waggles her eyebrows at me. "Do we get to fight now?"
I laugh. "Hell yes. I didn't get a chance to spar with you guys when we were at the compound."
"You see this can?" Tyra asks, pretending to hold something in her hand. She mimes opening a can. "This is what I like to call whoop ass and I'm about to serve you a nice steaming plate of it."
X groans. "That was horrible."
Zander laughs. "Yeah, it was pretty bad."
Tyra scowls at them. "I'm being honest."
"Well, it's time to put your money where your mouth is, bitch. Let's do this."
