“Jaws!”Zander shouts.

Tyra groans. “No, Zander. We’re not watchingJaws.”

“Why not?”

“Because it’s old,” X says, surfing through the options on Netflix. “What do you think, Demi?” She turns to look at me in the armchair.

“Why don’t we tryBlade?”

Zander presses his lips together and twists them to the side.

“What? You don’t like it?”

He sighs. “I like it, I don’t particularly feel like watching a movie about vampires when I’m living with them.

I tip my head to the side. “Fair enough, what aboutNightcrawler?”

X hovers the selection box over the movie and we all read the description. “Creepy dude, violence, and suspense. All in favor?”

“Aye,” Tyra and Zander say.

The movies starts and we settle in to watch, waiting for our pizza to arrive. When the doorbell rings, I get up to answer it. I’ve seen the movie before so it only seems fair.

When I open the door, I find Grayson with his hands full of pizza instead of the delivery man.

“You didn’t eat him, did you?”

He laughs. “Uh, no. I’m not into drinking blood from pimply teenagers.” He lifts his hand, waving the boxes in my face. “Are you going to let me in?”

I shrug and cross my arms. “That depends, are you a talker?”

“What do you mean?”

“Do you ask questions during movies or do you shut up and watch?” I ask.

“Is this legitimate criteria to enter?”

Uncrossing my arms, I grab the pizza boxes. “You have three seconds to answer.”

“I shut up and watch.”

Smiling as I kick the door wider, I jerk my head toward the living room. “You passed the test, come on.”

“Hey, man,” Zander says when he sees the vampire.

X and Tyra wave to him and quickly move their attention back to the screen.

Grayson and I settle into the oversized chair together. We eat the pizza while he seems content to enjoy the movie without food.

My friends haven’t reacted badly to his presence, and I’m happy they’re comfortable enough with him to let their guards down, if only a little. They’ve been trained to be ready to fight, so they’re never truly relaxing.

I finish my pizza and snuggle into Grayson’s arms, sighing in contentment.

Things are finally calming down, thank Odin. I was starting to get a little tired of all the drama.
