“No, I meant you like what I did to the apartment?”
“Yes, babe. This was a good idea. You made the right call about the wall in the kitchen despite the cost, and your staging has made it feel like a home. I can almost picture us living here.” With a hand on her shoulder, he toppled her back onto the bed. “There, that’s better.”
He lay down next to her and propped himself up on his elbow so he could look at her face. Brushing the hair back from her cheek, he leaned in for a kiss.
“Imagine—the kids are all grown. We’re finally taking that vacation to Italy you’ve always wanted. It’s just you and me under the Tuscan sun, lazing in bed, eating good food, making love…” He punctuated his dreams with kisses, and Jo leaned into both the imagery and his embrace.
“Strolling through art galleries, exploring old ruins and building new memories together over sunsets and bottles of wine. I can’t wait, Dom. We’re going to conquer this fear of flying you have and take on the world.”
“As long as you’re by my side. We make a hell of a team, Jo.”
She pulled him back in for another kiss, sealing the promise of this shared future.
He’d blocked out an hour for this tour with Jo, and he was determined to make every minute count. He slid his hands under her fancy suit, destroying her composure and taking a little tour of his own over all of his favorite places. Every curve, every dip, testament to the lives she’d created and shared with him. Every shiver and gasp a renewal of the vows they’d made to love and to cherish so long ago. Every beat of her heart beneath his fingertips a reminder of the passion that still pulsed between them.
With four kids in the house, a quiet hour was hard to come by. Dom wasn’t going to waste a second. He was going to show Jo exactly how much he loved her and her brilliant ideas.
