“What we discussed, right?” Rocko asks him from his computer.

“Yep.”

I want to ask what he’s getting, but with the superstitious, “don’t look until he’s done,” comment, I bite my tongue and wait.

Once Rocko is finished prepping the stencil, he rolls across the room on his stool to where Asher lies and places the stencil over the empty expanse of skin on his chest.

My mind drifts back to when I asked him about the empty spot, and how he said he was saving it. What was he going to put there?

“Auden,” Asher rasps, pulling me from my thoughts, “eyes on me.”

Immediately, my gaze snaps to him. His eyes are heavy-lidded, and it sends arousal coursing through my body in a torrential wave.

I can’t help my body’s response to him. It was impossible to even try to cull the desire that snakes inside me. From a simple look and command.

We’ve spent the last couple of weeks learning and exploring each other in ways I never imagined possible, and he’s thoroughly acquainted himself with my body, and the ways that he can make me pliant beneath him.

It’s been blissful, beyond my imagination. I clench my thighs together tightly when I think about last night and the dirty things he whispered in my ear as he fucked me.

His lips tug into a wicked grin. “Stop giving me that look before I leave with half a tattoo, baby.”

My cheeks heat, flushing down my neck. He loves to tease me and make me blush any chance that he gets.

I pull my phone out of my purse and pull up the book I’ve been reading, trying to focus on the words on the screen. The buzz of the gun lulls me, and I find myself lost in the story.

I don’t’ even know how much time has gone by when I hear Asher say my name, “Killer.”

My head whips up, and he’s sitting up on the bench, smiling softly at me.

“Sorry, I was into this book.”

“I see that, come see.” He nods toward me. When I stand, I realize that Rocko is no longer here, and the room is empty. Placing my phone and purse on the chair, I walk to him and settle between his spread legs.

“Ready to see what I got?”

I nod, biting my lip as I finger my hair. The entire thing feels…different. What is he being so secretive about and why couldn’t I see as he got it?

Carefully, he peels the white gauze away from his chest, revealing dark black script inked into his skin.

“Read it.” His voice is low and hoarse.

My eyes drift along the fresh lettering as I read.

My heart is, and always will be, yours.

“Asher…it’s beautiful.”

His gaze holds mine. “It’s yours.”

My heart seems to stop inside my chest as he murmurs the words.

“W-what?”

Reaching out, he slides his hands around my waist and tugs me against him. His hand slides along my jaw, cradling it gently.

“My heart is yours, Auden, for now and for always.” He swipes his thumb tenderly along the hollow of my cheeks, his eyes searching mine. “I told you that I was saving this spot. I was saving it for the day when my heart was no longer mine. It’s yours, baby. This quote? It’s my declaration for you, inked into my skin forever. My favorite quote fromSense and Sensibility.”

Tears well in my eyes. His favorite book. I drop my gaze back to his chest, rereading the words over and over.
