“Oh, right, of course. So sorry to intrude. I’ll definitely call next time. Maybe tell that guy to work on his people skills, though.”

As I backed away, the shifter cracked the faintest hint of a smile.

“Tim’s a dick hole to everyone. It’s what makes him a good lookout.” He nodded to one of the wolves beside him who trotted off in the direction I’d just come from. “I’m Scott, Jaxson’s beta, and you, Ms. Vaughn, are one very lucky vampire.”

He slung an arm over my shoulder and corralled me toward one of the cottages. “Come on, we’ve got some things to sort out.”
