“Yes.” Natalie’s response was just as low as my question.

“Holy shit,” I murmured. “But I thought…I thought that dick at the party was just being an asshole when he was saying that you were a virgin. I didn’t…fuck.”

“Are you going to freak out like Kingston?” She sighed, turning her face back toward mine. “Because I don’t need to feel bad about myself all over again.”

“…Like Kingston?” Confusion seeped into my tone. “What are you talking about?”

Natalie’s face went pale as a ghost. “Shit.”

“What were you talking about, Natalie?” I kept my gaze locked on hers. “What happened with Kingston?”

“I just thought…I thought that he would’ve told you.”

“That he would’ve told me what?”

“That we kissed,” she whispered. “That I…Last night, when I was drunk…I kissed him. And he kissed me back. But before things could go any further, I told him I was a virgin. And then he said he didn’t want to be the one to take my virginity, so we stopped.”

Suddenly, there was a surge of jealousy in my veins. There was also a surge of being pretty pissed off, too, as I thought about the way Kingston had warned me away from Natalie, like hooking up with her was the worst thing in the world. Had Kingston really tried to keep me away from her just long enough for him to make his own move on her?

But if that was the case, why hadn’t he gone through with it? Was he trying to be a gentleman? Did he have plans to be with her outside of the mission at hand?

“Are you okay?” Natalie asked. “It’s just…you just got really quiet.”

With fresh whiskey swimming through my brain, I decided to tell Natalie the truth. “I’m just surprised, that’s all. I…never thought that it would’ve been Kingston that you wanted. I kind of thought that we had something, some kind of connection, but I guess that was just in my imagination.”

“No, it’s not—” Natalie paused, looking down at the whiskey and shot glasses. And then, she asked another question. “Never have I ever…hooked up with the same girl as Kingston?”

I sighed as I took another shot. “That shit’s sometimes unavoidable. Kingston isn’t always the most open guy when it comes to his hookups.”

Natalie smiled as I explained the situation, then a curious look swept right over her features. “Wait. I wasn’t finished with the question.”

“You sounded pretty finished to me, Natalie.”

“I wasn’t.” She shook her head and went on. “Never have I ever…hooked up with the same girl as Kingston…at the same time?”

“What do you mean?” I replied. “Do you mean, like, in the same day or something? Same week?”

“Same bed,” she clarified. “Same night. Or morning. Or whenever.”

“No.”

“Is it something you’d ever be into?”

“Is that something that you want?” I turned the question back around on her. “Has that been part of your plan all along, Ms. Hanson?”

“Does that make me a bad person?” Natalie’s face fell as she spoke. “I don’t know. Maybe there’s something wrong with me. I just think of you two as a package deal, but that’s probably really fucked–.”

“Is that what you’ve been thinking about all night?” I interrupted her response, whiskey still flowing through my system, making me a lot blunter than I’d ever been with her before. “Is that why your nipples have been hard ever since we sat down to play the game?”

“Zeke—”

“Do you want me to touch you, Natalie?”

“Yes,” she whispered, her hands resting in her lap.

And without wasting another second, I closed the distance between us, my mouth crashing against hers.
