As I sank into her, my eyes closed and we both moaned loudly in relief. We found a rhythm fast, thrusting and kissing as we climbed to that peak. My orgasm approached so fast and so hard that I couldn’t stop it even if I tried, so I just surrendered, only vaguely aware of her screaming my name as the pleasure all but blinded me when the climax finally hit.

CHAPTER38

SERENITY

Bart and I fell asleep together after, and I couldn’t remember ever having been happier. I’d seen it in his eyes when he’d looked at me that he’d meant it when he said he loved the song, and judging by his reaction, it had been genuine excitement shining back at me.

More than that, we were once again sharing a room—and a bed—happily and without even having had to discuss it again. It really felt like everything was falling into place, and as I closed my eyes after his breathing had evened out, I smiled.

The next morning when I woke up, his head was between my legs and he grinned up at me when I gasped as his tongue hit my sensitive flesh. “Good morning.”

“Good morning,” I murmured, my throat slightly sore from all of last night’s shrieking and moaning. I cleared it as I ran my fingers through his soft hair. “What are you doing down there?”

“Oh, this?” He shrugged, eyes alight with barely restrained laughter. “I just thought I’d get a head start on how long I could hold my breath for later when we go scuba diving.”

I smacked him lightly on the shoulder, cheeks growing hot as I dropped back to the bed. “We’re going scuba diving, not free diving. You don’t have to hold your breath. That’s why they give you the oxygen tank and stuff, but by all means, don’t let me interrupt your morning practice.”

“So generous,” he mused against my skin, running his fingers up and down the insides of my thighs. “We only have about an hour until we need to head down to the beach, and we still have to eat and shower. So you’re going to have to be a good girl for me and make this fast, okay?”

A very girly giggle escaped me. “I think I can manage, but why don’t you come lie down on your back so we can make it a two-for-one special? We can save a little time that way.”

“I like the way you think,” he said, immediately coming to lie down next to me. I positioned my knees on either side of his head, letting my loose hair trail across his torso as I leaned down.

He was so hard that I only played around for a short minute before I went for gold. Doing the same to me as I was to him, he spread me open with his hands and tucked in like I was his favorite breakfast food.

Moaning as he drove me closer and closer to the edge, I doubled my efforts on him, closing my eyes and simply focusing on the sensations flowing through me and making sure I made him feel the same way. We both tensed at the same time, and I whimpered around him as my toes curled when my orgasm crashed into me.

He saw me through it and I did the same for him. Then we collapsed side by side on the mattress and just lay there panting for a while. Eventually, I turned my head toward the digital clock on the nightstand.

“We made good time,” I murmured. “It’s probably silly to take a shower before scuba diving lessons and we did shower last night, but there is time if you want to grab one.”

“Nah, I’ll shower when we get back.” He rolled onto his side and pressed a kiss to my shin since we were still lying head-to-toe. Then he sat up, his breathing still labored as he grinned. “How are you feeling about today? Nervous?”

I took a minute to consider the question. “No, not really. I’m strangely okay with the idea of depths. If you’re high up, the air can’t catch you when you fall, but water all around seems safer, especially since we probably won’t be going down too deep on our first time out.”

“Wait,” he mused, grin softening as he looked at me. “You’re a water baby. I remember that now. You always used to love to swim.”

“Yep. It’s too bad you guys always thought there was something better to do than going to the pool.”

“We swam a lot,” he protested. “You kept dragging us there every damn day in the summer.”

“Sure, but did you really swim while we were at the pool? I seem to remember four teenage boys lying on their towels, looking all cool with their sunglasses on and trying not to get busted checking out the girls.”

He grabbed my foot, tickling the sole as he laughed and shook his head. “I don’t know what you’re talking about. I was only checking out one girl.”

I let out a squeal, trying to jerk my poor foot out of his grasp as I wiggled back on the bed. “So you admit it then. You guys weren’t there for the swimming.”

“We might not have been there for the swimming, but we swam a lot anyway,” he said as he released me and stretched his arms out above his head. “I did it to get closer to you, but I’m not sure about the others.”

I rolled my eyes. “Jeremiah was always too cool to swim at the public pool. Tanner used it as opportunity to show off his muscles and Shawn tried to sweet talk every girl there. Come to think of it, I’m pretty sure that’s where he got so good at flirting. You know I’m right. You guys only came to indulge me and then took the time there to further your own agendas.”

He chuckled. “Those were good times, but you still don’t have to worry about me in the water. I might not have loved swimming as much as you, but I can hold my own.”

“Good news,” I said brightly as I rolled out of bed and headed over to the dresser. “Does Jeremiah still own the house he grew up in? That pool was amazing. It’s no wonder he never wanted to swim at the public pool when he had that thing in his own backyard. I used to be so jealous of him.”

Bart narrowed his eyes in thought before climbing off the mattress and walking over to his cupboard. “Yeah, I think he still owns it. His dad lived there all along, if I’m not mistaken. I don’t think he’d have sold it after his death, but I’m also not sure how often he goes out there. We might’ve been jealous of his pool, but the memories he has of that place growing up aren’t so great.”

I sighed. “I guess you can have the coolest house in the world, but if the people inside it aren’t happy, the house won’t be a happy one.”
