She looked horrified and immediately looked down at her boots with four-inch heels.

My brother glanced at their bedroom where her bag was stored. “You can change if you want.”

Brielle nodded. “It’ll just be one second.”

It looked like Maya secretly couldn’t wait to see what Brielle put on this time. She only had to wait a few minutes to find out when Brielle came back out in a pair of black leather leggings, a camo sequin top, and strappy sandals.

“Huh,” Maya said, smiling. “Have fun, you two.”

Hunter looked down at Brielle’s sandals but didn’t say anything. Instead, he reached for her hand as she slid her sunglasses on, and they made their way out the door.

“What the hell was that?” Maya chuckled.

“I was going to ask you the same thing.”

Maya grinned. “But I think it’s safe to say she’s got the hots for you.”

I laughed and shook my head. “Great. Two women unable to keep their hands off me.”

Maya snatched a piece of cheese and rested her chin on my chest as she looked into my eyes. “Speaking of, I’m really sorry that I won’t be able to hike more with this thing on.”

I bent down and kissed Maya’s forehead. “I’d much rather spend my time pigging out on salami and cheese and snuggling on the couch with you any day.”

She lit up, and I smiled wider. “Are you positive?”

“Positive.”

I opened up a cabinet and pushed a button hidden within.

“Oh, fancy.” Maya grinned, watching the flatscreen move into place. “Too bad we don’t have cable.”

I laughed, squeezing her. “True, but we do have satellite.”

Maya’s brows shot up. “Are you serious?”

“Deadly.”

“You really aren’t into roughing it, are you?”

“And then there’s this.” I pulled down the chaise that now had enough room to expand from the couch since the sides had slid out.

Maya collapsed onto the chaise, and I threw a fleece blanket on her. “This is heaven.”

“I’m glad you think so.”

She smiled, and her eyes fastened on mine. “Do you think it’s okay that Chewie is sleeping on our bed? Will she be mad that she missed out on cheese, movies, and snuggle time?”

“I’d prefer if she did.” I laughed, bringing over the food.

I sat down next to Maya, who’d propped her boot in front of her.

“I have to confess something,” she began.

“What?” I asked, leaning my head against the couch so I could see her. “You decided you want to sell your company and permanently move into my trailer?”

She giggled, but something shifted in her gaze, which worried me. I tried to push away the feeling as she clasped her hands over mine.

“No, but for the first time since I arrived in Wisconsin, I finally feel like I’m on vacation. Like none of my previous worries can find me here.”
