“Yeah, I know.”

“Congrats man, I’m happy for you.”

“Thanks. Raven’s pretty amazing, but she doesn’t know about the club yet, so it makes things… complicated.”

“Yeah, I would think that would be the case.”

He shook his head. “They tell me you’re still looking for Ansley.”

“Something doesn’t feel right, Beckett. She wouldn’t just disappear on me without talking to me.”

“Have you considered it wasn’t something she was comfortable sharing with you?”

“You know, don’t you? You know why she left.”

“It’s not my place to tell you, Nick. All I can say is she had a really hard decision to make, and she felt like this wasn’t the best place to be working while she dealt with it all.”

“Dealt with what?”

“You need to talk to her.”

“That’s what I’ve been trying to do, but she doesn’t return my calls. If you know where she is, you have to tell me.”

“Why?”

“What do you mean, why? She’s my sub. It’s not like you to stand in the way of that.”

“Nick, what she is dealing with is bigger than a dom/sub relationship. When you find her, what are you going to do, drag her back here and punish her for leaving?”

“That, among other things.”

“Like what?”

“What does it matter to you? Listen, man, we’ve been friends for years now, but I would never stick my nose into a relationship of yours like this.”

“A relationship?”

“You know what I mean.”

“No, I don’t.”

“I… I just need to find her.”

“This is more about her being your sub, isn’t it?”

“Fuck off.”

“Nick, I’m probably the only person that can help you right now. Just tell me what the hell is going on.”

I stood and paced his office as I ran my fingers through my beard. “I need her Beckett. I can’t explain it. I’ve never felt like this before. I need to know what happened to her.”

“Do you love her?”

“No, of course not.”

He just raised his eyebrows at my denial, then reached for a pen and a post-it note. “She’ll know I gave you this address. Don’t make me regret it.”

I looked down at the piece of paper in my hand and my heart nearly jumped out of my chest. I had a way to find her, and she wasn’t far. “Thank you.”
