“Heard from one of my contacts that Mendez knows who you are and is tracking you down.” He finally says.

“That was quick.” I raise my brows.

“Yes, it was. He’s got some pretty important people in his pocket apparently which means he could very well track you down through me.” He looks directly at me. Telling me without words that even Fiona could be in danger.

“I’m sorry brother. I didn’t know where else to take her.” I explain but he holds up a hand to stop me.

“I understand more than you know. One look at my wife and I knew that I would do whatever it took to always keep her with me.” He says and I shake my head knowing he speaks the truth.

“Love is kind of stupid. How can I be in love with her yet not really know her yet.” I look back towards the cabin.

“You’ll get to know her and that love will grow even deeper. By the time you finally tell her, she’ll be in love with you too.” He slaps me on the shoulder. “Look, I’ve talked to the President of the Wolfsbane Ridge MC. He’s going to station some guys in cabins close by but there’s still a chance Mendez’s guys can slip by without being seen.”

“Thank you brother.” I say, slapping his shoulder this time.

“Come on, let’s get those bags out before Fiona tries to cut out our livers or something.” His comment makes me laugh. “You think I’m playing but that woman is even more volatile than ever when pregnant. I have to sleep with one eye open.”

I laugh even harder all the way back to the cabin.

Raven

Gio has been fairly quiet since his brother and sister in law left this morning. I’m curious if he knows something that he doesn’t want to tell me.

Fiona was super nice and nothing like I expected. She never once asked about the bruises that are still clearly visible. Instead she handed me a bottle of cream that she said was amazing and would help to heal it faster.

Fixing some coffee, I take my cup out onto the porch just to listen to the birds in the trees. I can see Gio from here chopping firewood with his sleeves rolled up on his pristine dress shirt.

It’s an amazing view. The muscles in his arms ripple with each swing of the ax and I wonder what those muscles would feel like under my hands.

I stare for so long that I don’t even realize he’s stopped what he’s doing and is staring right back at me. My face turns to fire at having been caught.

I can’t help it though. The man is absolute perfection, even more so than his brother. While they may be twins, there are marked differences between them.

Gio’s eyes are lighter in color and there’s a very small dimple in his cheek that you’d never notice because he rarely smiles.

I continue to stare back at him, refusing to be the first to look away. There, there’s that dimple as he tries to not smile at me.
