“They’re good people. But I don’t really want to talk about them.” His hands slid down to close around her butt, and he brushed his lips over hers again.
She tightened her arms around his neck. She was a little surprised at herself that she felt this relaxed with him – this comfortable. She was surprised, but she couldn’t deny that she was enjoying it.
“What would you rather talk about?”
His hands tightened around her butt, and his hard length pressed into her stomach. He gave her a rueful smile. “I’d rather not talk at all – I have something more pressing on my mind. But I think that should wait. I think we need to talk; we need to figure out what we’re doing.”
Alyssa looked up into his eyes. She still couldn’t get over just how gorgeous he was. She sucked in a deep breath. He was right; they did need to talk. She needed to drag her mind away from the way he looked, the way he felt, from the heat that radiated from his hard body, warming her, making her want nothing more than to melt into him.
“What do you want to do?”
He nuzzled his face into her neck, making her cling to him more tightly. Goosebumps raced down her arm when his warm breath fanned her skin as he spoke. “What I really want to do, is continue working our way down the list.”
“I don’t understand.”
He grazed his teeth over her collarbone, sending shivers racing down her spine. “We did the door, the shower, the dresser, and the bed. We didn’t check the balcony off the list.”
She had to laugh. “We should definitely do that.”
His hands came up to her cheeks, framing her face between them as he pressed a hard, hungry kiss to her lips. “We should. But we really need to figure this thing out first.”
She was disappointed when he turned away from her and went to the little kitchen area.
“Do you want a drink?”
“Yes, please.”
“What would you like?”
“What do you have?”
He opened the mini fridge and pulled out half a dozen little bottles. She laughed when he took out a larger bottle.
“I didn’t get one of those in my fridge.”
He shrugged. “It’s my favorite. It’s my way to relax at the end of the day. And usually, hotels don’t have much of a selection in the minibar.”
She went to him and took the bottle from him, tracing her finger over the label. That was some expensive bourbon. “I would’ve thought that you’d be a wine drinker.” She looked up into his eyes. “Now that I know who you are.”
He shrugged and turned away to pour two glasses. “Would you have known who I was if I told you my name?” He turned back and handed her a glass of bourbon. “I mean, if I told you that I’m Bentley DuPont, would you have known who that was? I don’t just mean would you have known that I was Ria’s son.”
She sniffed the glass warily, and then tossed her head back and drank the whole thing. “I would.” She gasped the words out and dabbed at her watering eyes.
Bentley chuckled. “This stuff is more for sipping than knocking back. Are you okay?”
There he went again; always checking that she was okay. She nodded. “I’m fine. Just a little thrown by this whole situation.”
He came to stand before her and put his hands on her shoulders as he looked down into her eyes. “Is it too much? Should we just … forget the whole thing?”
Without her permission, her hands reached out and grasped his shirt at his sides. “Perhaps we should … forget it, I mean. But I don’t want to. It doesn’t feel like too much.” She bit down on her bottom lip, knowing that she shouldn’t say the rest. She shouldn’t say it, but she was going to anyway. This whole weekend had been crazy so far, and what she had to say was even crazier, but so far, crazy seemed to be working out quite well. “It doesn’t feel like too much … It feels like not enough.”
His eyes turned a darker blue as he searched her face, and then he nodded. “It does, doesn’t it?”
He didn’t give her the chance to answer before he lowered his head and claimed her mouth in a deep, lingering kiss. All she could do was cling to him as he explored her. His tongue slid against hers, making her want to feel his body do the same thing. She ran her hands up his sides and down his back until they closed around his ass. He had such a great ass.
When he finally lifted his head, a jolt of disappointment shot through her when he checked his watch. She’d been so caught up in their kiss that she didn’t know what day it was, let alone care what time it was.
He must have sensed the change in her and caught her chin in his hand. “Don’t look like that, you still have my full attention. I’m trying to make sure that we don’t miss the moon.”
