I sway on my feet, my body leaning toward him like we’re two magnets that have been brought into the same magnetic field. Amos’s hands tighten on the towel at his waist and I realize that he’s holding himself back as much as I am.
It’s then I remember the game and I take a step back, clearing my throat as I look away from him. His hands clench again and I peek up at him from beneath my eyelashes.
“Good night, Camden,” he says after a beat, his voice washing over me and sending shivers skating down my spine, and I nod.
“Night, Amos.”
He seems just as affected by my words, at the way my lips wrap around his name and I watch as his muscles tighten.
He steps into the living room and over to his suitcase and I hurry into the bathroom, closing the door and letting out a deep breath as I stare at my reflection in the foggy bathroom mirror.
FOUR
Amos
I never knewthat sleeping so close to someone, even just in the next room, could be such a turn-on. I was up half the night, my cock hard and aching between my legs as I listened to the gentle sounds of Camden breathing. I kept wondering if she was dreaming about me.
She can feel that there’s something between us. I know she can. I could see it last night written all over her pretty face. I had half hoped that she was going to give in last night, but I’m glad that she didn’t. I’m enjoying our little game too much.
I hear Camden roll over in bed and I sit up on the couch. I spent at least an hour trying to find a comfortable position before I just ended up dangling my legs off the side of the couch. It definitely wasn’t the most restful night of sleep, but I’d do it every night if it meant being close to Camden.
I climb off the couch, biting back a groan as my back cracks. I roll my shoulders, working out a few sore muscles as I make my way into the kitchen. I came up with a plan last night, a foolproof way to get Camden to fall in love with me.
Step one of that plan is to spoil the shit out of her and show her that I can take care of her.
That’s going to start this morning with me making us breakfast.
I dig the bacon and eggs out of the fridge. It takes me a little longer to find the frying pans and start cooking, and by then, Camden is awake. She heads into the bathroom and I crack the first egg into the bowl. I don’t know how she likes her eggs yet, but scrambled seemed like a safe bet.
I flip the bacon, turning the heat down slightly before I add the eggs to the other pan. Camden walks into the kitchen, her dark brown hair tied up into a ponytail that hangs halfway down her back. She seems surprised that I’m making breakfast and I just give her a smile as I stir the eggs in the pan.
“Morning, beautiful,” I greet her and she blinks.
“Morning. It smells good in here.”
“Thanks. It’s almost done.”
“Can I do anything to help?” she asks and I shake my head.
She moves to the first cabinet, grabbing two plates and setting them next to the stove.
“It looks nice out,” she comments and I nod, glancing out the window at the sun shining over the trees.
“What’s the plan for today?” I ask her as I divide the food onto the two plates.
“I’m going to go hiking. Enjoy the sunshine and warm weather a little bit.”
“Sounds like a plan.”
She raises her eyebrow at me and I set a plate down in front of her as we both take our seats at the little table set up next to the wall.
“You can come too if you want,” she says, grabbing her fork and digging in, and I bite back a grin.
“Sure, that sounds like a great way to start the day.”
We eat in silence, both clearing our plates in minutes, and I take the dishes away before she can try to clean up.
“Why don’t you go finish getting ready? It won’t take me long to get changed and then we can head out.”
