That’s when the lights went out. Not in the club. Pagan decked me.

Chapter 8

Cece

Holy hell. Irish rushed out my window just in time. My door swung open, almost hitting me. I made it back to the edge of the bed to sit on my hands. I smiled innocently to greet my brother even though Irish had made me cream my panties.

“Cece, Sweet Tea called and said you’re not at work,” my brother barked over me. He smelled like leather, smoke and Jass’s pussy.

“Of course, I’m not. I showed Irish what to do and came home. I cleaned up here since I had the time for once.”

Pagan paused. He must’ve looked around because he seemed content with my words.

“I don’t want you around that prick.”

“What if I want to be around him?”

“He’s in love with Charlotte Jones. Remember her from high school.”

Yeah, I remembered her. She was more stuck up than an electric pole. I nodded.

“I’m not going to let one of my brothers take advantage of you.”

“What if I want someone to take advantage of me?”

“Is that what this dildo’s about?”

Fuck, Jason was out somewhere. I felt around on the bed.

“Jesus, Cece, you’re blind. Am I supposed to let you have men over who just want to fuck a blind chic? How could I live with myself if I let just any man get his rocks off on your disability?”

“Because no one would want to date me, right?”

My brother ignored that completely because that’s exactly what he meant. I was damaged goods. I couldn’t take care of myself or anyone else. Without my sight, I was worthless in his eyes.

“Jass is back now. No worries,” he said.

“You know damn well she doesn’t do anything anymore.”

“Take it easy on her, sis.”

I laughed because my brother was freaking ridiculous. “How do you expect me to live like this? Waldo is shitting in the hallway. I’m having to walk to the bar for scraps. You’re never around unless you’re dicking my nurse. No one’s gone to the store in three goddamned weeks.”

“Make me a list then,” he yelled.

“Jassica’s supposed to be my live in nurse. What are you paying her for? Oh, wait. I know.”

My brother stomped out. Him and Jassica started screaming at each other.

I got up to close my door and locked it. Fumbling for my headphones, I found my laptop. I turned on Netflix to search for something with the audio descriptions on. I skipped the series and reality shows, I usually enjoyed. I found a travel show. It was the only way I’d be getting out of Tennessee now that I was a prisoner to my impairment and my brother.

Later when I emerged from my room, Jassica was nowhere to be found. I went to the bar for a bite to eat.

Paisley served me a plate off the buffet. “Here you go. No green stuff except green beans. Just like you like it.”

“Thanks.”

“Aren’t you here all the time now?” She remarked as she placed one of my hands on my fork and the other on my drink, like she’s seen my nurse do it a bunch of times.
