Page 2 of Rituals & Runes

The Pack Council Seer had foretold of her coming. A woman, delicate and lovely in appearance and with the scent of a Lily flower, could cure the curse. By way of a sacrifice in a dark ritual under a full moon.

And she’d come from the pack that had cursed mine.

Those words iced my veins and hit me like a sledgehammer in the head.

The Seer hadn’t warned me that the cure would be an irresistible half-human woman and my mortal enemy.

I needed her but she was utterly forbidden and destined to die. My wolf growled and snapped at me while cruel reality set in.

I needed to be the decisive Alpha I was born to be.

To save my family and my pack.

I squared my shoulders and took a step forward.

She reached out and rested a dainty, trembling hand on a washing machine. “Excuse me, what can I do for you?”

As a total stranger, no way would I be able to convince her to come with me. I didn’t have time for chit-chat and hoping a random male shifter could get a half-human woman to jump in his car, to go back to his pack to be sacrificed.

I only had one solution.

Because I didn’t have time for this. Not for her, not for bringing her to my bed, even if my wolf continued to snarl at me, driving me to get near and claim her.

Not with my pack on the line.
