The vague whispers of Kaden's emotions came alive inside me, like a crescendo of sensations. His thoughts rang into my mind, and I knew we had bonded.

Become true, fated mates.

He licked my wound, and I did his. "You're mine forever, Wolfling."

"And you're, mine, Kaden."

"Forever, my darling beauty."

The crowd I'd forgotten about broke out into deafening shouts and hollers, clapping and cheering.

Mortified, I reached out for a blanket but there was none. I'd just had sex in front of an entire crowd. And I had no way to cover up.

Neither did have any idea if we'd made a big enough sacrifice. I hoped our plan had worked. That tomorrow, we wouldn't wake up to more death.
