Black tooth guy slowly rises, and I step forward to I don’t know what when Jig pulls me around and pushes me away with a gentle shove. I sag with relief when he enters the fray, and between the two, they quickly subdue the others.
Jig levels the first with a punch to the gut while Cyn pounds black tooth to the ground.
I’m just backing away when Cyn looks up with a frown, and I smile weakly when he strides forward and grabs my arm. “You suck at listening.”
I shrug and pull away, grumbling, “I’m going.”
He quirks a brow, and I huff before entering the building, distracted by Cyn’s ease in overpowering those guys. It was hot and I’m tingly all over.
Unfortunately, I don’t see Rand until I’ve bumped into him. He grabs me up, and I squirm, saying, “Let me go, cocksucker.”
Chuckling, he tugs me against his chest. “You’re a weird one, little beauty.”
“Fuck off.” I don’t like the way he says beauty, and I don’t fucking appreciate him taking the liberty.
“I thought you were a good girl when I met you at the beach. I guess I shouldn’t have worried and just fucked you.”
“In your dreams,” I spit, pressing my hands against his chest.
He rubs his erection against my stomach, and I groan, pushing harder, but he’s got me where he wants me, and I have no leverage.
My mistake.
“We’ll see. When Cyn gets tired of you, let me know. I’ll be happy to plug all your holes.”
“You’re an arrogant wanker. I’d rather get hit by a damn bus.”
“Let her go.”
We both pause at the low tone, and I look over Rand’s shoulder to see Bastion behind him. His dark eyes are icy cold as he glares at Rand, who lets me loose and raises his hands with a smug grin.
I push away and move to go around him, only to pause when he says, “You’ll be begging for it.”
My veins turn to ice, but I ignore him and keep going, all the while wondering if Cyn told him or others about his fucking decree.
Beg, ha!

After school, I join Iris in her car. She looks up from her phone with a blank expression, and I rub my aching brow as we pull away. The arcade isn’t far, thankfully. My brain is a pile of mush, and I yearn for my bed, but I promised, so I follow Iris inside.
The harsh sounds of the competing games ring in my ears as we approach a group of people I’ve never seen before. With relief, I sit down at the table and stretch my lips into a smile when Iris introduces me.
The familiar sting of embarrassment rises in my cheeks as my new peers look me over curiously, and my chest tightens when the girl across from me smiles. “Hey, I’m Brooke.”
“Rain.” I return the gesture and look away.
“What’s up?” Iris asks, nudging my shoulder.
“Nothing.” I eye her warily as she scans the crowd. Please tell me that dick Saul isn’t here.
“I’ll be—”
“Right back,” I say.
She grins, her dark eyes sparkling back at me, and I blink. “Whatever,” she says.
Watching her walk away, I sigh. I’m so confused and heartsore, and Cyn is fucking to blame. But what can I do? Give in and lose, or is it a win? I don’t know. I’ve never cared enough about a boy to obsess, but I’m feeling particularly pathetic right about now.
