“Well.” I stole a sip from my bottle. “We had to think fast and I went with the first idea that popped in my head.”
Maverick side eyed me.
“It’s under Mrs. Vander’s back porch.” I shrugged.
“What the fuck, Dom?” Maverick scoffed.
“What? It’s solid. Who is going to expect some ninety-year-old woman to be hoarding cocaine?”
“He has a good argument,” Romeo chimed in.
Maverick though about it for moment. “I got to give you this one.” He chuckled.
“Thanks, besides, that old lady loves me.” I checked him with my shoulder.
“I think it’s best we leave it there until we get a plan and figure out who the fuck is setting us up. I got a pretty decent idea.” Maverick motioned to Amelia for another.
“We staying till close?” I asked him.
“Hell no. Have you met your sister?” He arched a brow. “I’m having one more then taking my ass home.”
“That’s probably a smart idea.” I agreed before downing the last of my beer.
I stood from the stool to stretch my legs when my phone buzzed in my pocket.
Dice
I swipe the screen. “Dice.”
“Dom, hey man I’m sorry to call, I know y’all got some shit going on.”
“Dice, what is it?” I interrupted.
“I uhhh…I don’t know what happened…...” He stammered.
A pit started to form in my stomach.
“Dice. Don’t fuck with me. What happened,” I growled.
“It’s Dani. She passed out. Gerry and Tanner are taking her to the hospital now.”
It now felt like a bottomless pit and I was falling head first.
“Where?” I asked. I started to leave, but Maverick grabbed my arm.
“Northwest General,” he answered.
I hung up the phone and ran a hand through my hair.
“What happened?” Maverick still had a grip on my arm.
“We got to go. They’re taking Dani to the hospital.”
Before he had time to react, I was out the door and on my bike. I didn’t give a shit if I broke every traffic law that was in place. She needed me and I was damn sure going to be there this time.
