“There are no words.”
His eyes were on mine, our hearts pressed close and beating together. My emotions rose. “That was the first time that’s ever happened. Thank you.”
“Anything for you, Em.”
I was bewildered. Finn did this for me. He heard what I wanted, and he gave it to me. I was undeniably in love with Finn Bakker, and I would have to give him up. But not tonight.

FINN
Emily was workingthis evening and wouldn’t be coming over. I checked the clock, thinking she should be home by now and sent her a text.
Me:I’m picturing you in that lavender lace again. What color are you wearing tonight?
Lucas:Not lavender. I went with the navy-blue boxer briefs. Makes my eyes pop.
I bobbled the phone. Shit. I’d texted my brother by mistake.
Me:My bad. I thought I was texting Emily.
Lucas:Really? No love for me bro? I was just thinking I wish Finn would text me something sexy.
Me:Fuck off.
Lucas:No you fuck off.
Jesus, my brother. He was a twelve-year-old boy in the body of some badass tech deal-maker.
Lucas:Come on Finn, you know I am but what are you. Do your line.
Me:Are you bored or something?
Lucas:Yes.
Okay, might as well talk to him. I hadn’t seen him much this summer.
Me:When are you home next? Mom wants almond cake. Planning a big dinner.
Lucas:End of the month. Before Tess goes back to Pullman. Been busy. Working a new project with a group from Silicon Valley.
Me:I thought you tried to avoid Silicon Valley. Too many tech-bros.
Lucas:It’s worth a lot of money.
Me:You have a lot of money.
Lucas:I like the challenge. I can avoid the travel. I have no taste for the weekend-long party lifestyle the bros love.
Me:[shocked emoji]
Lucas:I’m serious. It’s messed up.
Lucas:You bringing Emily to this dinner? Meet the parents.
Me:She’s already met them jackass
Lucas:You’re in love with her.
