“Because I would not have gone to your places. I would’ve detoured straight to Luca’s apartment and stayed naked for the foreseeable future.”

Mads cracks up, clapping his hands. Rand puts his hand on his heart and smiles at me.

“So I take it you’re now a whore like the rest of us?” Mads asks.

“Mads!” Rand says, scandalized.

I crack up, more at Rand’s reaction than Mads’ words.

“Yes, we did the deed. And it was very, very good.”

Now they’ve both got a hand on their hearts, and it’s sweet as hell.

Leaning in, I catch them up on the gossip. “Did you hear what happened with Darnell?”

Their eyes go wide. “No. Tell us.”

“Luca has a friend who owns a vineyard,” I start.

“Gio!” Mads says, grinning.

“How do you know about him?”

“Luca sent a case of wine from Gio’s vineyard as part of our engagement present.”

“Well, I can tell you this much: it’s some of the best wine I’ve ever had.”

Rand walks over to his laptop. “What’s the name of this place?”

I give them the details, and he orders a case for all three of us.

“But yeah, what happened with Darnell?”

“He and Gio hit it off.”

Mads looks like he’s about to fall out of his chair. “Oh my God.”

“He didn’t come home with us.”

“Oh my God.”Mads is going to have a small stroke if he doesn’t calm down.

“I also just found out that Kej is in athrouplewith Grayson and the head of security at your building.”

Rand smiles. “Oh good, I’m glad you know. It was killing me to not say anything. Grayson is, of course, very discreet, but he’s been floating on clouds for weeks now. He burned our dinner the other night.”

Mads and I crack up.

“I thought Joe wasn’t letting him cook anymore.”

“He said he wanted to cook for us because he wanted to tell us something important. I nearly had a heart attack thinking he was going to retire, which he can do now because of you,” Rand says, narrowing his eyes at me through the digital space. “But he says there’s a five-year plan in place.”

“How’s his mom taking everything?” Mads asks.

“Are you kidding me? She’s acting like she’s getting two new sons. As soon as we figure out how to get you to move here, she’s going to take the efficiency we’ve been using as storage and cede the apartment to ‘her three boys.’”

Mads gets that troublemaker grin of his. “So what you’re saying is if someone knew of a certain apartment going for sale in a certain building, it would be good for all involved?”

“Wait, there’s an apartment for sale in the building?” I ask, pulling up my favorite property app.
