When I open my eyes,I’m in my bedroom—curled in his arms with my butt pressed into his morning wood, and his earthy scent flaring in my nostrils.

Crap. I shouldn’t have let Chase in last night.

Last night.Flutters race through my veins when I remember our kisses and his lips all over me.

And now I get to torture myself more since I know how well he can play my body.

What was I thinking?

I wasn’t thinking. I was feeling.

“Ugh,” I groan by accident.

He pulls me tighter to him, and his lips creep on my neck. “What’s wrong?”

Closing my eyes, I fight the urge to stay in bed all day with him and see how good we really are together.

Vivian, don’t go there. You’ll be another one of his girls. Last night was a mistake, and you need to never make that mistake again.

I push out of his hold. “I need to go to the bathroom.”

He releases me, and I grab my shorts off the floor and slide them on. Jumping up, I go into the bathroom, do my business, brush my teeth then get dressed in my closet.

When I come back to the bedroom, Chase laughs. “Is that my cue to put on my clothes?”

“Yep. You owe me breakfast, and I need coffee,” I say, hoping to hide my anxiety about what I let him do to me last night. We need to get out of my bedroom and in public with other people.

Chase gets out of bed, wearing nothing but his boxers. His chiseled body is eye candy enough, but I inadvertently linger too long on his package.

“Enjoying the view?” he teases.

My face heats, and I turn away from him. “Sorry.”

Vivian! What are you doing! Don’t encourage him.

He strolls out to the living room, where he left his clothes. He comes back into the bedroom, dressed, where I’m giving myself a pep talk to get back in the friend zone.

“Do you have an extra toothbrush?” he asks.

“Sure.” We both walk into my bathroom. I find one in the drawer, hand it to him then leave.

I put my coat on, along with my boots. I’m sliding on my gloves when he comes out of my bedroom.

He eyes me suspiciously. “I don’t remember you being this motivated in the morning when you stayed at my place.”

I shrug. “As I said, I need some coffee.” I throw his coat at him.

He catches it but instead of putting it on, he steps in front of me and wraps his arms around my waist. I stare at his chest, my pulse beating in my neck, and he pushes my chin up.

“Good morning.” His gorgeous blue eyes pierce mine.

I let out a breath. “Good morning.”

“I have a feeling if I kiss you right now, you’re going to have a heart attack. Am I right?”

I swallow hard.

“Vivian, you okay?”
