I look nervously between the two men who are both nodding for me to go.
“Go!” they say in unison.
I get off the bed, kiss Chase, Páppa, and leave to find the others.
When I get out to the others, Piper hands me my phone. “It’s been blowing up. Your boss keeps calling.”
We missed the closing.
“Crap. I hope we don’t lose Chase’s penthouse.”
I check my text messages and missed calls then call the seller’s agent for the penthouse. He answers right away.
“Vivian, how could you do this?”
“I was stalked and got kidnapped. I’m at the hospital.”
“Funny.”
“I’m telling the truth.”
He pauses.
“Hello?”
“Sorry. Are you serious?”
“Yes. Chase was shot. We are both okay, but he just got out of surgery.”
“Shit, Vivian. I’m glad you are okay.”
“Can we still have the penthouse? Chase only didn’t sign because he came to save me.”
“Let me call my sellers. They were pissed, but I’m sure they will accommodate. When would he be able to close?”
“He can sign in the hospital if it’s that important. Everything is in place.”
“I’ll call the sellers right now and shoot you a text or call you back.”
“Thank you.” I hang up.
Quinn asks, “Are you able to get the penthouse still?”
I shrug. “Hopefully.”
Jamison comes rushing in. “Oh my God, Vivian, your face!”
“I’m okay.”
“How is he?” His face is full of worry.
“He’s recovering. He’ll be okay.”
Relief replaces his worry. “You doing okay, Quinn?”
“Yeah. Glad you had a safe flight,” she says softly and walks away.
What the heck?
