“Yes.”

“What are you going to do with it?”

“Upgrade it. The previous owner is a slumlord, and the electrical is so outdated it’s a fire waiting to happen. It’s also pretty infested with rats, so I’m going to renovate it. Noah’s foundation works with a nonprofit to help the residents find temporary housing while it’s under renovation.”

I turn into him. “Are you really doing that?”

“Yes. Why are you surprised?”

“That’s an amazing thing to do.”

He shrugs. It’s a modest Chase I don’t see very often. “I got the building for a great price, and it’s the right thing to do. People deserve safe housing.”

“Yes, they do.”

He points again. “See that building over there with the top all lit up?”

“Yes.”

“That’s Jamison’s penthouse.”

“Are you sad he moved out?”

“It was nice having him here. But I had the most fun when all four of us were here.”

I can’t argue. The four of us did have a good time. “I had a nice time then, too.”

“Do you think you’ll be visiting more?”

“No. Charlotte will be going home eventually, and weekends are hard for me to get away. A lot happens in real estate then.”

Disappointment crosses his face, but he smiles. “I guess I’ll just have to see you when we come visit Noah.”

“Sure.”

A new song comes on. He grabs my hand, puts his other arm around my waist tightly to his body, and sways to the music.

I laugh. “What are you doing?”

“Dancing with you.”

I’ve never danced with him before, but our bodies fit perfectly together, and I sink against his chest.

“Stay with me tonight,” he urges.

“I am staying with you.”

“In my bed. I’ll keep it in the friend zone.”

“You’ll behave?”

He laughs. “Yes. I promise.”

I should say no, but I can’t. “Okay.”

He kisses my head, then spins me around the room for a few more songs before grabbing my suitcase and leading me to his room.

We change and get into his bed. The rest of the night and early into the morning, we spend talking, laughing, and snuggling. When he drops me off at Piper and Noah’s the next day, I want him more than I did before.
