Present Day
Chaseand I go our separate ways after breakfast. He asks if I’m going to see him before he leaves.
“Probably not.”
“Too much of me already?” he teases.
“I have plans already.”
“All weekend?”
“My schedule is pretty packed.”
“What are you doing tonight?”
I debate about lying to him, but I decide to tell the truth. He’s always been honest with me. “I have a date.”
His face looks…hurt? I didn’t expect it because he has all his women on the side, but hurt is all over his face.
“Sorry, but I don’t want to lie.”
“How long have you been seeing this guy?”
“Not long.”
“Is it serious?”
“Would I have allowed you to stay in my bed last night if it was?”
He cockily grins. “Good point.”
I quickly say, “He’s a really nice guy and I like him.”
His face drops.
Shit. Why did I say that?
“What about tomorrow. Are you free tomorrow?”
“I’m working with several buyers, and I have a listing appointment tomorrow.”
He nods. “I guess I’ll see you on Friday, then?”
“I’ll set everything up and clear my day.”
“Okay.” He pulls me into him, and I want to stay there forever but remind myself I’m never going to be one of his girls.
What happened last night can never happen again.
I’m about to pull back when he says, “If your date ends early, call me.”
“It won’t,” I sternly say, and his jaw clenches.
How many girls is he screwing right now, and he’s jealous of my date?
