My pulse creeps up. I send him my address and wait. We had a blizzard last night, and it’s still lightly snowing. The roads are clear, but it will probably take a good twenty minutes for him to arrive. I decide I need a drink to calm my nerves.

I open a bottle of Chardonnay and pour a goblet. I’m halfway through my glass when there’s a knock on my door.

Surprised, I peek through the keyhole and see Chase. He must have slipped into the building when someone left.

“That was quick,” I say, opening the door.

“Wow!” Chase checks me out from head to toe, and a flush creeps up my neck. His blue eyes pierce mine, and he licks his lips.

Nerves dance in my stomach at his approval. “Come in.”

He steps in and pulls me into his body. His earthy, clean scent flares in my nostrils, and, as his lips brush against my cheek, his warm hand strokes my naked back, sending a jolt of energy through all my cells.

“You look amazing. I missed you.” Chase’s deep voice rings in my ears.

I gaze up at him, wanting to tell him I missed him, too, but I don’t go down that road. “Good to see you. Glad you had a safe flight.”

He pulls me tighter, grinning. “You aren’t going to tell me you missed me?”

“Aren’t you cocky.”

He raises an eyebrow. “Admit it.”

I roll my eyes and push his chest, but he has me locked into him, and I can feel his blooming erection. “Fine. I missed you. Can we go now?”

He kisses my cheek again and releases me. Putting his hand through his sandy blond hair, he checks me out again.

My coat is in my closet, and I grab it, fully aware that he’s eyeing my backside.

He takes my coat and helps me in it then leads me out of the door. No one else is in the elevator, and a smoldering look is on his face.

“Why are you ogling me like that?”

“It’s good to see you, Vivian.”

“You, too. Are you and Jamison in town just to visit Noah and Xander?”

“No, we are also scoping out the scene here.”

Tilting my head at him, I pinch my brows in question.

“We’re expanding Vital Services into the Midwest, and Chicago is going to be the first location.”

My heart beats so hard I’m sure he can hear it.He’s expanding here?

I try to play it cool. “That’s exciting.”

“I need a top real estate agent. You know any?” He grins.

“I’m kind of biased toward one.”

“I think I’m biased toward her, too.” He winks, and my insides turn into Jell-O once more.

The elevator stops moving and opens.

He puts his hand on the small of my back and guides me through the lobby and outside to where the car is waiting. “So, you want to help me find several locations?”

“Sure. I would love to do that.”
