“I called the buyer’s agent to put your offer in. He said there are two other agents sending offers over, and we have until midnight to get ours in. If you want to change it, we still can. I know you put a full price cash offer in, but I think you’re going to be in a bidding war.”
I don’t ever get emotional about real estate deals, and I’m used to looking for bargains and walking away if needed, but this one I’m not walking away from. It’s an amazing place, and Vivian loves it more than she allowed herself to admit to me.
I see us there.
“Let’s go to five point five, all cash, five-day close, no inspection.”
She gapes. “You want to go five hundred thousand over the asking out of the gate?”
“Yep.”
“Five-day close?”
I grin at her. “Yep.”
“I didn’t realize you were that in love with the place.”
“You don’t love it?”
“It’s not that. I don’t want you to overpay.”
I shrug. “It’s not that much more than what it’s worth.”
Her eyes widen. “Not that much more? It’s probably a good quarter-million more.”
I shrug again. “You love it. I love it. Let’s make sure we get it.”
She stares at me like I’m crazy.
I lean into her ear. “It has the best make-out potential. I think we’re missing out if we don’t get it.”
“All that just to make out with me, huh?”
“Well, and other things.” I take a little nibble of her earlobe just as the car pulls up to my hotel.
Vivian opens the door and steps out of the cab. I throw some cash at the cabbie and follow her.
It’s almost eight, so I have the bellhop take Vivian’s bag to my room, and we go directly to the restaurant. They seat us right away, we sit next to each other in a booth, and I order a bottle of wine.
“You sure you want to offer that much?” she asks.
“Is there something else I should offer that will guarantee me the place?”
“You know I don’t have the answer to that.”
“Do you think anyone else will go that high?”
“No.”
“Good. Bring up the paperwork and change the terms. Let’s get it submitted.”
“Okay.” She pulls a small tablet out of her purse, logs in, and spends a few minutes changing the offer. “It should be in your email for you to sign.”
I pull out my phone, open the email, tap the spaces I need to sign and date electronically, and hit submit.
“Back at you.” I wink at her.
She opens her email, sends it off, then types on her phone. “I texted the agent to let me know when he gets it.”
