“You going to tell us what’s going on now?” Noah asks.

“I love her. I want to spend my life with her. She won’t get over that I’m married to Valeria.”

“She knows why you can’t divorce?” Xander asks.

“Yes, of course. But I’m going to fix that.” I pull out my phone.

“What do you mean?” Noah asks.

“I can’t live without her. I need to get a divorce. It’s time I ended this.”

Xander steps in front of me. “What are you going to do, Jamison?”

I order an Uber on my phone to take me to the airport. “What V and I should have done years ago. We’re going to take Alejandro down.”

“Are you crazy? You’ll get killed,” Noah cries out.

“If that happens, then at least I died trying. I’ve amended my trust. If anything happens to me, make sure you transfer everything to Quinn, Noah. The papers are in my safe.” Noah has been the executor of my trust for years. I never thought he might need to act in the capacity so soon, but knowing what I’m about to do, he may need to step into that role.

Noah looks at me like I’ve gone crazy.

“Jamison, think before you do this,” Xander pleads with me.

“For fifteen years, all I’ve done is think. I’m tired of thinking. It’s time to act.”

The Uber pulls up. “I’ll see you guys later.”

“Jamison! Don’t do this!” Noah calls out.

“I’ll call you both when I’m back.” I open the door and get in.

“You won’t come back,” Xander cries.

“It’s a price I’m willing to pay.” I shut the door and call V, who’s still in Chicago with Cindy.

Over the last week, I’ve spent five hours in New York, changing my trust and making sure Quinn’s taken care of if something happens. The other day, Valeria and I discussed the only plan we could come up with to allow us to truly live how we want to.

Divorce.

Not in hiding and with the ones who own our hearts.

And I can’t live without Quinn. She deserves to have everything she desires, and I’m going to give it to her or die trying. I’m not going to sit back any longer and let the fear of what Alejandro will do dictate my life.

Valeria is ready to stop hiding as well, so we spent too many hours to count, trying to figure out how to gain our freedom.

“Jamison.” Valeria picks up.

“V, did you sort your paperwork?” Over the last week, any joint assets we had we split, so if anything happened to us, they could be quickly transferred to either Quinn or Cindy. Valeria had to sign to amend her trust as well.

“Yes. It’s all switched over.”

“Good. I’m an hour away from the city. I’ll meet you at O’Hare.”

“We’re doing this, then?”

“Yes. It’s time to finish this.”

“Okay, darling, I’ll book the flights and meet you there.”
