I sigh and turn to Chase. “I’m sorry.”
He nods. “It’s okay. I’m not going to say anything to anyone. I promise.”
“Okay. Thanks.”
“In fact, why don’t the four of us make a pact that whatever happens in this house stays in this house. We can all relax, then,” Chase says.
“I’m good with that.”
“Me, too,” Vivian says.
“Agree.” Jamison winks at me.
Chase grins at us. “Well, now that we got that out of the way, lets go spend an exciting day at the hospital.”
* * *
Charlotte ison a lot of pain medications and moves in and out of sleep all day. Anytime she wakes up, she asks about Xander and cries when we tell her nothing has changed.
Xander is still in a coma.
Visiting hours last until 4 p.m. Noah and Piper were invited to Noah’s New York assistant Nixon’s house for dinner. They have a new baby, and he said it was easier for them to come over than go out.
We part ways and are soon back in Chase’s car.
“I think it’s time to hit the town and show these ladies the real New York,” Jamison says.
Vivian sneezes. Chase hands her a wad of tissues from his pocket.
She laughs. “Stocking up?”
“I think you’re coming down with a cold. You’ve been sneezing all day. Your throat hurt?”
She wipes her red nose. Her eyes are watering.
He puts a hand on her forehead then lays the back of his hand on her cheek. “You’re warm.”
“I’m okay.”
He turns in his seat and pulls her back on him. “Just rest. You guys go out. We’re staying in.”
“We can go.” Vivian sneezes again. “Or, you can go without me.”
“Shh. Don’t be silly. I can go out anytime.”
Jamison looks at me. “Want to go out and see the town?”
“Sure. That sounds fun.”
He winks, and butterflies go crazy in my stomach.
I’m sad Vivian is sick, but a part of me is excited to go out with Jamison alone.
When we get back home, Jamison and I head over to his apartment. As soon as we get through the door, he spins me into him, his lips crushing into mine.
I wrap my arms around him, and he pulls me tighter to him. His growing erection is poking my stomach.
“I’ve been dying to do that all day,” he murmurs and teases my tongue some more.
