“Can’t blame me for trying.” Standing up, he slaps me on the ass. “Don’t take too long. You’re already perfect.”

Jamison

Quinn spendstwenty minutes getting ready. I hop in the shower in one of the guest bathrooms and get done before she does. I’m waiting for her on the couch when my phone rings.

Valeriapops up on the screen.

“Hey, V,” I answer.

“Jamison, how are you doing?”

I stand up and walk to the windows, staring out at the twinkling lights of Manhattan against the dark of the night. “I’m good. Everything okay?”

“Yes, darling. I’m good.”

“Are you back in the country now?”

“No. Filming is going to take a little longer. I think I’ll be stuck here another three weeks.”

I run my hand through my hair. “Cindy with you?”

“She had to fly back for work.”

“Everyone on the set treating you well?”

“Yeah. Everyone is very kind.” She pauses.

“V, what is it?”

She lets out a big sigh. “My father.”

My gut flips. “What about him?”

“He’s coming to town and wants to see us.”

“About what?”

“Honestly, Jamison, I have no clue. He said he wants to see us, and we both need to make time. I don’t think I can hold him off any longer.”

I let out a big breath of air. “When is he in town?”

“Next month. He’s not sure of the exact date yet. I’m sorry to ask you this, but you know how he is.”

Yep. You don’t have to remind me how my father-in-law Alejandro Gómez is.

“Okay, V. Text me the date when you know. Also, I’m staying at Chase’s penthouse while I remodel. I’m sure he’ll be fine if you stay here while you’re in town.”

“Thanks, Jamison. And...I’m sorry to put you through all this.”

“No worries, V. Glad you’re all right.”

“I do miss you though.”

“I miss you, too.”

The bedroom door opens. I turn as Quinn walks out. “I’ve gotta go. I have a hot date tonight.”
